Ye Hai settled everyone down temporarily. He claimed he needed to seek the opinion of Archbishop Zera, to see if the latter had time to meet them today. The group left behind with Kurs began to murmur among themselves.

“Master Kurs, do you think this strange sect Ye Hai mentioned is real?”

Kurs’s eyes narrowed slightly, and the kindness and benevolence on his face vanished without a trace. Instead, a sinister expression took over, his aura completely changed from before. He exuded an unmistakable warning to outsiders to keep away.

Kurs spoke calmly, “Whether it’s true or not is irrelevant. Since we have received the Pope’s orders, no matter what, we must fulfill his instructions!”

“We must bring these outsiders into the warm embrace of the Shesha sect.”

“If this Flying Spaghetti Monster cult truly exists, then kill that archbishop.”

“Let this group of outsiders see the true strength of the Shesha sect.”

“This Ye Hai is a clever man; he will choose the right path...”

Hearing the cruelty underlying Kurs’s words, everyone displayed strange smiles.

Soon, they saw Ye Hai following behind a tall, bald man. The bald giant wore a long robe embroidered with elaborate and exquisite patterns. His chest was bare, and he wore shorts below. His skin seemed slick with some kind of oil, shining brightly. Around his neck hung a pendant.

The pendant appeared to be carved from the most common wood on the Zombie Star. But the craftsmanship was extremely refined, depicting the double helix structure of human DNA. It was evidently the work of a master—Kurs had never seen such exquisite carving before.

The wooden carving bore extremely complex runes. These runes formed a self-contained system and were not scrawled haphazardly. They resembled a form of writing, but Kurs could not recall their origin despite searching his memory. It seemed these runes had never appeared before in the Leviathan star system.

Kurs had good eyesight and could clearly discern the shape of the runes as the bald man walked.

“...”

Upon seeing the line of characters, Kurs was slightly startled.

“A sect inheriting ancient script?”

“Mysterious... and eerie!”

The bald giant walked forward, twitching spasmodically like some kind of ritual dance, muttering words under his breath. It seemed he was performing an ancient sacrificial rite, filled with mystery.

Ye Hai followed closely behind.

Zera glanced back, her voice trembling as she whispered, “How long must I put up with these old geezers’ dithering?”

“I... am so cold!”

Ye Hai could only roll his eyes helplessly and replied, “Just put on your act, pretend to be some kind of deity, and scorn those Shesha missionaries mercilessly!”

“When this is done, you will be the archbishop of the Flying Spaghetti Monster cult, ruling over your own faction.”

Zera, trembling, had no choice but to continue walking slowly toward Kurs and the others.

Indeed, Zera’s image was entirely modeled after the grand villain, High Priest Morton Yin, from the novel “The Return of Mummy Yin.”

Ye Hai knew nothing about religion. At first, he wanted to make Zera look like a monk, but the robes were tricky to handle. Making her look like an immortal was out of the question—she simply lacked that ethereal aura. Ye Hai couldn’t get his hands on those luxurious clothes either.

After carefully observing Zera’s appearance and temperament, Ye Hai had a flash of inspiration.

Zera’s tall, bald, burly figure, combined with the fierce aura of a former slave trader leader—wasn’t this a perfect likeness of High Priest Morton Yin?

Ye Hai ignored the fact that the outside temperature had dropped below zero with winter approaching. He just pushed Zera out in this guise.

Kurs and the others watched Zera approach slowly and finally caught the chant she was repeating.

“Flesh and blood suffering, gene ascension!”

Immediately, the expressions on Kurs’s group darkened.

Flesh and blood suffering, gene ascension? This was somewhat similar to the Shesha sect’s doctrine of tempering oneself through suffering while awaiting the blessing of the Shesha god...

Looking at Zera’s cold attire, it was clear she was deliberately enduring cold to temper her body, unlike the Shesha sect’s hypocritical slogans.

Suddenly, a sense of urgency rose in Kurs’s heart.

If even the archbishop of a sect could lead by example through suffering to demonstrate commitment to the doctrine, then the followers’ faith would be equally steadfast.

If the Shesha sect wanted to preach smoothly here, this Archbishop Zera could not be left alive.

With this thought, a murderous gleam flashed in Kurs’s eyes. He gave a signal to the two men beside him.

In an instant, the two struck at Zera.

Their bodies underwent a violent transformation...

Previously appearing as kindly old men, they now grew taller by a great margin, their muscles bulging wildly until their clothes tore. Their skin darkened with a metallic sheen, clearly traits of enhanced defense through the zombie virus.

Their attacks were ruthless—one from the left and one from the right—fists whirling as they aimed directly at Zera’s head.

Both Zera and Ye Hai were startled simultaneously. Neither expected such a sudden attempt to kill.

Originally, Ye Hai did not want to coerce them into submission through force, to avoid inciting the Shesha sect’s hostility.

Now that the sect was resorting to violence, it was no good for Ye Hai.

It also contradicted his original purpose of quietly searching for the secret laboratory of Karan Genetic Biotech.

He had first gifted the four great cardinals of the Shesha sect, then treated missionaries like Kurs with courtesy.

Perhaps it was the long-standing brutal control over the Ironwood Forest black market that had made the Shesha sect so arrogant.

They dared to kill on their own turf without warning.

Ye Hai’s fury flared.

“If I don’t show my power, do you really think you’re something special?”

Angrily, Ye Hai’s expression turned cold. He instantly flashed forward, leaping before Zera.

He fiercely confronted the two attackers head-on.

But as he struck back in anger, Ye Hai felt as if struck by lightning.

The tremendous force in their fists shattered the bones in Ye Hai’s arm.

He was blasted backward, rolling over the ground for more than ten meters.

“Damn... what terrifying strength is this?”

“Even without entering the zombie state, my physical strength has reached the fifth-stage mutant level.”

“How could these two easily shatter my arm bones?”

“These two missionaries not only maintain human form but possess strength far exceeding fifth-stage gene warriors!”

“How does the Shesha sect achieve this?”

Ye Hai was blasted away by the strike.

Without hesitation, the two attackers continued their fierce assault on Zera.

Suddenly caught off guard, Zera seemed paralyzed with fear, standing frozen and repeating over and over:

“Flesh and blood suffering, gene ascension...”

A mocking smile flickered on Kurs’s face.

“The charlatan Flying Spaghetti Monster cult...”

“Do you really think you have the protection of a deity?”

“Little do you know, though we missionaries failed to pass the trial of the miracle site,”

“we have still received partial blessings from the Shesha god.”

“In this world, only the Shesha god is the one true god!”

“Die, vermin!”

Yet at that moment, thick black tendrils sprouted like spaghetti from the ground around Zera, wrapping tightly around the two assailants and dragging them underground.

They vanished without a sound.

Before departing, the tendrils even filled in the dense pits around Zera, seemingly to prevent her from twisting an ankle.

Kurs gaped in disbelief, staring at Zera’s terrified face.

He muttered incredulously:

“What was that just now?”

“The Flying Spaghetti Monster cult... actually has a true god as well?”
