Chapter 112: Finding a Power Bank for Big Egg
Just as Ye Hai was staring at the blind girl in astonishment, her body suddenly went limp and she collapsed, unconscious.
Immediately, the members of the Dusa Resistance began to cry out in alarm.
"Saintess..."
"Saintess!"
However, the Corpse Hunter organization was not to be trifled with; gleaming gun barrels were instantly leveled at those attempting to approach. Several of the most reckless individuals were struck down on the spot, but this time, there was no one left to resurrect them. This ruthless and bloody display of force quickly brought the situation under control.
Seeing the blind girl faint, Kuls patted his chest and let out a long sigh of relief. "So she isn't a Perfect One. She scared me!"
Ye Hai turned his head slightly to glance at Kuls, a flash of dissatisfaction in his eyes. It seemed this old man still had many things he hadn't fully explained. Perhaps the long-term oppression by the Shesha Sect had left him—even with the nanites Lister had implanted in his brain—still longing for his former masters. He might even be waiting for the God of Shesha to save him.
Ye Hai sneered but chose not to confront Kuls at this moment; his interest in "psionic users" far outweighed everything else.
Without a word, Ye Hai walked over to the blind girl. One of his fingers morphed, extending a sharp, long claw, which he gently pricked into the Saintess's carotid artery.
When Lapulaxin saw the bright red blood flowing from his Saintess's neck, he became like an enraged lion, lunging wildly toward Ye Hai. However, with a slight flick of Lister's wrist, the Saintess was released from the chains, and Lapulaxin was bound in her place.
Though his upper body was restricted, Lapulaxin had already reached Ye Hai. Unable to move his arms, he bent his knees as much as he could to bring his head to Ye Hai’s ear, spewing spittle as he cursed violently.
Ye Hai frowned slightly. In an instant, an arm sprouted from his shoulder blade and, without a word, delivered a resounding slap to Lapulaxin’s face. Lapulaxin spun like a windmill, tumbled wildly, and knocked himself unconscious.
"System, analyze the viral components in this woman's body!"
The system responded promptly: "No viral components were detected in this individual's blood."
Ye Hai was taken aback. "No viral components? System... are you sure you haven't made a mistake? Didn't you just see it?"
"This woman can use psionic energy! This is the first time in the ten years I've been on the Zombie Planet that I've encountered a human capable of using psionic energy... And you're saying there's no virus in her body?"
After being questioned by Ye Hai, the system replied coldly: "Confirmed. It contains no virus. If you think it does, take a sample and analyze it yourself; quit nagging me!"
"..."
"???"
Ye Hai was momentarily stunned. Was this really something a system should say to its host?
Just as he felt confused, he sensed the woman's heartbeat racing violently. A flash of insight struck him. "The psionic energy of those ART-2s is stored in their hearts... Could it be the same for human psionic users?"
As Ye Hai withdrew his finger from her carotid artery, intending to drive it directly into her heart, the members of the Dusa Resistance began to shout angrily.
"You pervert... what are you doing?"
"How dare you desecrate the Saintess, you bastard..."
The air was filled with deafening insults. Lapulaxin, having regained consciousness just in time to see Ye Hai’s "lewd" movements, turned beet red and roared, "Let the Saintess go and come at me instead!"
He was met with another slap, and he promptly fainted again.
Ye Hai looked around and noticed that both Zero and Lister were wearing amused expressions. Javier, the scoundrel, was ostensibly watching the captives, but his eyes kept darting toward the scene with a look that was undeniably lascivious. The Corpse Hunter soldiers also had excited glints in their eyes, and some were even whistling softly.
Ye Hai looked down at his own hand. Indeed, the positioning was somewhat suggestive. Feeling awkward, his eyebrow twitched violently. He flipped her over so she was lying face down, then drove his claw through her back to gently touch her heart. Seeing the end of the provocative display, the crowd groaned in disappointment.
"System, analyze the situation inside her heart again."
The results arrived quickly. "The subject's heart contains a unique energy, very similar in composition to the psionic droplets of the water-man, Asli. However, the concentration of energy in this woman's heart is extremely high; she doesn't need external supplements to survive. Furthermore, every time her heart beats, a trace of psionic energy is generated, meaning her power replenishes automatically as long as she is alive."
"However, this psionic energy is very similar to the strengthening virus in Kuls and the others, only much more violent. Every time she uses her psionic power, it generates a large amount of toxins. These toxins are then circulated into her blood via her heartbeat. This time, because she released so much power, the backlash of the toxins was severe. The toxins in her blood are currently killing every cell in her body."
Ye Hai frowned and asked, "Can you save her life?"
He had a great interest in the fact that the Dusa Resistance Saintess could use psionic energy, and he didn't want her to die so pointlessly. While her resurrection ability was negligible to the Corpse Hunter organization, a living psionic user was of immense research value. Even if nothing came of the research, her ability to provide an unlimited supply of psionic energy made her the perfect "power bank" for the Essence Collector.
Although Ye Hai had sensed that her energy was far inferior to that of the Spider Mother, Lilith, or the water-man, Asli, it was still far stronger than the giant human-faced spiders of the ART-2 clan.
Without hesitation, the system blurted out: "Yes. You can use parasites to extract the poisoned blood. The toxins haven't permeated her entire body yet. While the extraction will leave her extremely weak, her life can be saved."
Hearing this, Ye Hai gave Zero a wink and made a hand gesture. Zero understood immediately. While everyone's attention was on Ye Hai, she quietly slipped behind a wall of snow and, out of sight, summoned a moray eel to retrieve five second-generation parasites from the laboratory. She quickly returned and handed the "octopus-like" creatures to Ye Hai.
Soon, to the horror of the Dusa Resistance members, the grotesque parasites crawled onto the blind girl's neck, heart, wrists, and abdomen. They pierced her skin with their tentacles and began to draw blood. As the blood flowed into them, these resilient creatures began to turn green at a visible rate.
Before long, the second-generation parasites detached one by one, fell to the ground, and lay motionless—they were dead.
Ye Hai felt the girl's heartbeat gradually return to a steady, rhythmic pace. Her breathing, though weak, had finally stabilized.
