Chapter 149: The Cyber Sword Immortal Arrives to the Rescue

Just as the resurrected warrior of the Holy Order swiftly dashed behind a mech, ready to launch an attack, Connor drew the massive gun from his back. In an instant, a high-energy beam traveling at the speed of light shattered the warrior’s arm. Yet, before the severed limb even touched the ground, Connor noticed the muscles at the wound twitching and writhing. By the time the arm fell, a brand-new limb, slick with a nauseating slime, had already regrown. This sight sent chills down the spines of both Connor and Blaster.
“Damn it, what exactly are these creatures...” Connor muttered.
“Are they human? Or mutants?”
“What kind of terrifying regenerative ability is this?”
“Are they immortal?”
The Holy Order warrior, despite the injury, grinned wickedly and with a powerful kick, vanished like lightning to Connor’s side. Startled, Connor quickly activated the energy shield on his mech—the very shield that had once saved his life against a devastating blow from Lilith, a top-tier psychic being.
Without hesitation, the warrior struck a fierce punch to the mech’s waist. A tremendous force surged through Connor’s machine, pushing it backward three or four steps before it finally halted.
“That’s some strength. Though nowhere near that giant spider’s...” Connor pondered.
“But is this raw physical power really humanly possible?”
“Incredible. Even the legendary Sixth Stage gene warriors probably can’t match this.”
“Who exactly are these strange beings?”
At that moment, the squad leader of the Holy Order shouted loudly at the stunned survivors, “Fall back to camp immediately! Inform the elders— we’ve been ambushed! The enemy is incredibly strong. Requesting urgent reinforcements!”
At his command, the survivors snapped out of their shock and fled in a mad dash toward the camp.
This confirmed it for Connor and Blaster: these foes were human. Yet that only deepened their dread. Humans capable of matching 20% of a mech’s power physically? If anyone had told Connor earlier that such humans could stand toe-to-toe with Broly family’s powerhouse mechs—even at just 20% output—he would have thought them mad.
Although he lacked precise experimental data on Sixth Stage gene warriors, Connor knew his own Fifth Stage gene warrior strength allowed him to physically clash with a mech only up to about 5% power output...
Page 2/3
...and that was purely in terms of raw strength. If he attacked a solid-powered mech as relentlessly as the Holy Order warrior had, his own bones would shatter under the recoil, instantly rendering him combat-ineffective.
Yet the enemy, after forcefully pushing him back, remained unscathed. Such terrifying physical resilience far exceeded all of Connor’s understanding.
These lamb-like survivors, once his targets for slaughter, instantly transformed into mutants cloaked in human skin.
“Blaster, intercept those people with me,” Connor ordered. “We can’t let them relay this information back. Something’s off with them; we need to understand what's going on first.”
Blaster, keenly aware of the gravity of the situation, nodded. If this survivor camp of ninety thousand harbored many such warriors, though confident he could hold his own against them, it would be an immense headache... Especially with their resurrection ability. If they couldn’t figure it out thoroughly, facing an undead enemy horde might drain their precious energy reserves without guaranteeing success.
Thus, Connor and Blaster, piloting the two most powerful kinetic mechs, sped after the fleeing survivors. Connor wielded a massive axe, and Blaster brandished a sword and shield, both moving at incredible speed.
Just as they neared their prey, a barrage of dense high-energy beams rained from behind. Forced to turn and defend, they raised shields. Although the Holy Order’s inferior firearms couldn’t severely damage the mechs, they drained their energy significantly.
With energy scarce, mech knights instinctively shifted into defense mode.
“Why the hell are these bastards wasting so many high-energy weapons?” Connor wondered aloud from behind Blaster’s shield.
“Don’t they fear triggering a mutant frenzy?” Blaster replied decisively, despite earlier misgivings about Connor’s plan to kill.
He understood the consequences if survivors escaped to spread the word—this war’s uncertainty would skyrocket.
Currently, with energy running low, the mech knights operated at only 50% power—far weaker than their full 100% output when they first entered the irradiated zone, where they had wreaked havoc.
To prevent disaster, Blaster said, “Since they’re using hundreds of high-energy guns, a mutant frenzy is inevitable. Tell the brothers to unleash hell—wipe them out as quickly as possible, then retreat.”
Page 3/3
“Captain, you handle those hundreds trying to flee. I’ll hold the line here!” Connor slapped Blaster’s shoulder decisively.
“Got it. On it.”
He opened the comms channel, ordering the mech knights to strike with full force.
Immediately, their might became apparent. At 50% power, the mechs’ strength was incomparable to the Holy Order’s fighters. There were no more scenes of the enemy knocking the knights unconscious and throwing them aside. Instead, those who attempted such tactics were soundly beaten, tossed around until they questioned their own existence.
When Connor gave the second order to unleash energy weapons without restraint, the mech knights ferociously drew their large-caliber handheld cannons, pinning the Holy Order warriors to the ground and firing a shot into their heads.
As long as the Holy Order failed to resurrect, a full-body barrage followed. Once the parasites embedded in their spines were destroyed, the warriors could no longer revive.
Realizing this weakness, the mech knights quickly informed others, sparking a brutal massacre.
Over two hundred Holy Order warriors perished in a short time.
Meanwhile, Connor caught up with the last of the survivors, slaughtering them mercilessly.
Just as he prepared to chase down another group, a flying knife cut through the sky, heading straight for his mech.
An alarm blared inside the cockpit, warning that the blade could cause severe damage.
Reluctantly, Connor broke off the pursuit, retreating to dodge the attack.
Yet the blade seemed almost sentient, curving midair to strike again.
After three narrow evasions, Connor glimpsed a tall, slender man in the distance, riding a flying knife, rapidly closing in.
Before Connor could even process this astonishing skill, the man clapped his waist, and ten more flying knives leapt from his sheath, hurtling toward Connor with a thunderous assault!
