He walked all the way to the innermost part of the third floor.

Pushing open a wooden door, a broad silhouette appeared before Ye Hai and Qiao.

Qiao pursed his lips and muttered, “How on earth did anyone manage to get this fat in an environment like Zombie Star?”

The hulking mass—standing at one meter ninety, weighing over five hundred kilograms—finally turned around. So overweight was he that the flesh on his face always drooped, resembling a droopy mastiff, giving anyone who looked upon him a sense of deep woe.

Upon seeing Ye Hai and Qiao enter, the man’s face immediately broke into a sincere yet ugly smile. He put aside his experiment, opened his arms, and moved in for a hug.

Heaven knew why this fat man was so agile.

Ye Hai and Qiao both clearly wanted to dodge this enthusiastic embrace, yet somehow, as if compelled by fate, they ended up in his arms, their heads being vigorously rubbed by his fan-sized hands.

His gaze brimmed with affection, just like someone who had unexpectedly found a beloved pet after months lost.

“Oh! Ye Hai, Qiao, you’re finally back.”

“I missed you so much.”

“When you weren’t here, I had to create some new pets to keep myself entertained!”

“I suppose you’ve already met my adorable dogs!”

“Of course, they’re nothing like you to the touch; after all, you can’t find a single hair on them…”

Struggling free from the sponge-like softness of his body, Ye Hai looked at him helplessly and said, “Mr. Lung, don’t you think it’s time to lose some weight?”

“I feel like you’re even fatter than before.”

“What’s with those thirty zombie dogs at the entrance?”

“How many reckless fools have sneaked into the forbidden zone lately?”

Lung chuckled, replying, “There have been quite a few visitors lately, which has greatly improved my diet…”

“So… I suppose… maybe… I’ve put on a bit more weight!”

“But I really have been very restrained. In these past few days, there have been as many as seventy intruders.”

“Look, I even made thirty zombie dogs for the sake of slimming down…”

Qiao rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath, “Disgusting pervert…”

Lung clearly heard Qiao’s words, but wasn’t the least bit annoyed. Instead, he picked up Qiao in a bear hug and lifted him high.

He sniffed Qiao up and down with his nose, like a dog. Instantly, Lung became happy, rubbing his chubby face against Qiao’s, the affection resembling an old dog reunited with its master.

“Mr. Qiao, congratulations on mastering the T-virus.”

“I’m truly delighted…”

“Now, when you go out, I won’t have to worry about you day and night.”

“That little girl Zero should also feel a lot more at ease about your safety.”

“As a man, if you’re suppressed in strength by a woman… you’ll never be happy. Given Zero’s personality, she’ll surely abuse you one day!”

“Now that your power has greatly increased…”

“When Zero abuses you in the future…”

“You’ll be able to withstand it a bit longer!”

“That way, after she’s vented her anger on you, she won’t come torment my lab pets…”

“What wonderful news!”

Qiao’s face darkened, veins bulging on his forehead.

He burst forth with tremendous strength, breaking free from Lung’s grip.

He shouted angrily at Lung, “Nonsense! That crazy woman Zero may not even be my match now…”

“A few days ago, I took down a stage seven mutant all by myself—a plant mutant, something never seen before on Zombie Star.”

Lung paused, turned to Ye Hai, and asked in confusion, “A plant mutant?”

Ye Hai shrugged helplessly, nodding, “Yes, a stage seven plant mutant.”

Lung gazed at Ye Hai with grievance, “Mr. Ye Hai, why didn’t you catch that thing for me…”

“As for stage seven mutants…”

Here, Lung stopped and exchanged a smile with Ye Hai; to Qiao, their smiles seemed especially strange.

Sensing Qiao’s puzzled gaze, Lung turned again and pulled Qiao into another embrace.

Exaggeratedly, he said, “That’s truly terrifying…”

“I never thought Mr. Qiao could face a stage seven mutant alone.”

“I’m so gratified!”

Watching Qiao being manhandled again and again by Lung, Ye Hai helplessly curbed Lung’s enthusiasm, saying:

“Mr. Lung, so many people have broken into the forbidden zone lately!”

“Can you confirm who they are?”

Lung released Qiao, seeming reluctant to let him go.

With a hint of regret, Lung said, “The three guys from the north sent over forty people. They smelled terrible…”

“Really ruined my appetite, so I used the remaining thirty or so to make zombie dogs.”

“The other twenty-odd were from Lakan, Hukong, and Bell.”

“A bunch of bag-of-bones—no nutrition at all.”

“Can’t those taboo figures treat their subordinates better, let them put on some flesh before coming to the forbidden zone?”

“Think about the treatment Boss Crow gives us… it truly makes me grateful.”

“What I found most interesting…”

At this, Lung paused, looked at Ye Hai, and asked, “Can you guess, Mr. Ye Hai?”

“Is it the strange half-human, half-spider mutants?”

Uninterested in Lung’s guessing game, Ye Hai frowned slightly and asked.

Suddenly, the previously affable Lung narrowed his eyes.

Almost buried beneath folds of fat, his tiny eyes flickered with a cruel gleam.

“Did those little crawling things disturb Mr. Ye Hai and Mr. Qiao?”

Ye Hai laughed coldly and shook his head, “No, those guys went to my villa this time, but it seems I wasn’t their target.”

“But since you’ve seen them, Mr. Lung, I have some idea…”

“Looks like something’s about to shake up the Pilates Black Market.”

“Whether it’s the northern folks, those mysterious spider mutants, or the black market taboo figures, everyone’s getting restless.”

“I originally intended to withdraw the Corpse Catchers from Pilates Black Market on this trip.”

“But it seems someone’s already eyeing us.”

“I’m curious what happened… that made those people-faced spiders walk the earth for the first time in years.”

“What are those neither-human-nor-ghost things, and how were they even created?”

“And Jack’s strange water—perhaps all of it is connected to those monstrous things.”

Looking at Lung, Ye Hai asked, “What about the people-faced spiders that broke into the forbidden zone?”

Lung smiled slightly, patting his belly, and replied,

“Those things have a strange smell!”

“So, I kept one for a live dissection…”

“It’s currently laid out in Lester’s spacious dissection room…”
