Chapter Seventy-One: Not Easy to Deal With
"Gentlemen, these disgusting mosquitoes are almost finished being eaten..."
"Shall we go in together?"
Ye Hai smiled slightly at Teach and Nangong as he spoke.
The corners of their eyes twitched uncontrollably.
They had already witnessed with their own eyes the colossal moray eel.
If the two of them still wanted to pay a visit to that so-called Mister Crow, it would only mean their brains were beyond repair.
Especially after hearing what Ye Hai had just said—
He wanted to crawl into the belly of that thing?
What kind of interstellar joke was this...
Only someone completely deranged would want to meet that damned crow!
"No, perhaps another time..."
"We’ve just fought a hard battle on the Zombie Star, we’re exhausted... We’ll go back and rest for now."
Ye Hai nodded and said, "A wise choice... I’ll escort you out of the forbidden zone and have someone show you to your quarters."
With that, he led the two out.
Qiao snickered, pretending to mutter mockingly, "So much for being famous marshals of the stars—such little courage!"
Teach and Nangong acted as if they hadn’t heard, picking up their pace as they left.
When Ye Hai returned, everyone grew serious.
Qiao glanced at the ashen walls, swallowing hard before he spoke, "Are we really going in?"
"Why don’t we just shout from here?"
"The old man’s getting on in years—if he doesn’t hear us, it’s hardly our fault..."
Ye Hai shot Qiao a withering glare, shutting him up immediately.
Ye Hai walked to the wall, knocking around until a hollow sound answered him.
He pried at the wall, removing a brick to reveal an iris scanner.
After leaning in for a scan, a small door opened beside him.
The group filed inside.
They entered the inner wall.
The barrier was about two meters thick.
Its interior was hollow, lined with rows of shield generators.
These powered the anti-gravity defensive field.
They walked about twenty meters along the interior passage.
After passing through another door, they arrived at the true heart of the forbidden zone.
Only upon entering did they feel the suffocating "smog" firsthand.
Visibility was extremely low.
Even with the enhanced eyesight granted by the T-virus, they could see barely ten meters ahead.
"Liana, spread the virus as widely as possible..."
"If you sense anything you can't control, report the location to me immediately..."
"And make sure it seeps underground as well."
At Ye Hai’s command, Liana instantly shifted into her Alexia form.
The virus within her surged out, drifting steadily forward.
Unlike in the irradiated lands, Liana could clearly sense her virus meeting fierce resistance upon entering the gray mist.
Progress was painfully slow.
The group leaned silently against the wall, waiting as Liana worked.
Though the process took an hour or two, it was undoubtedly the safest approach.
At last, Liana pointed northeast and said, "There’s something over there I can’t infect."
"And it’s moving underground!"
Ye Hai’s eyes lit up, and he addressed the others: "Let’s go—it should be the moray eel!"
"If anything else approaches, Liana, warn us straight away."
He set off at a run for the northeast, the others following swiftly.
"We’re here—it’s right beneath us."
Ye Hai and Qiao exchanged a meaningful look and nodded.
"Everyone, spread out—keep your distance from Qiao."
Qiao drew a dagger from his boot and slashed a deep cut into his wrist.
Bright blood flowed, but the wound quickly healed under the T-virus’s effects.
He cut again, then healed... and cut again!
After four or five rounds, Qiao grumbled, "Why is it always me doing this?"
"Next time, someone else can bleed, okay?"
"Even bleeding is a hassle now..."
Ye Hai chuckled. "Who told you to be the only one with a knife..."
"Next time, ask Javier to fire a shell at you—the blood loss will be much more impressive."
Javier grinned darkly. "Happy to oblige!"
"It’s coming!" Liana shouted.
Qiao didn’t hesitate—he teleported away instantly.
A split second later, a gaping maw burst from the ground where he’d stood.
Everyone could see the mouth was crammed with jagged, half-meter-long fangs.
"Mr. Lungs, it's your turn..."
In an instant, Mr. Lungs’s body swelled grotesquely.
Except for his head, his entire form transformed into thick tentacles, unfurling dozens of meters outward.
The tentacles climbed up the moray’s body.
For the first time, Javier and Liana witnessed Mr. Lungs unleash his full power—who could have imagined the human body could stretch to such an extent?
As the moray began to fall from midair—
Mr. Lungs’s tentacles split in two, binding the eel’s upper and lower jaws.
For a moment, the enormous moray, over eighty meters long, was forced to keep its mouth wide by Mr. Lungs’s strength.
"Everyone, as soon as the eel hits the ground, dash into its mouth!"
As the moray crashed down, its jaws were still prised open.
Ye Hai charged forward, the others at his heels.
Suddenly, Ye Hai sensed an arc of electricity flickering across the moray’s body.
Alarmed, he shouted, "Quick—fall back!"
The next instant, arcs of electricity crackled violently—
A surge of ultra-high voltage scorched Mr. Lungs’s tentacles, filling the air with the smell of burning flesh.
Fortunately, Ye Hai’s warning came just in time; the group reacted instantly, escaping the danger zone.
"Damn it! The old man must have spliced electric eel genes into this thing."
"It’s like a walking fortress now."
"Javier, quick, blast Mr. Lungs’s tentacles apart—"
"Otherwise, he’ll get roasted alive."
Javier didn’t hesitate—he’d already seen Mr. Lungs’s eyes roll back as he foamed at the mouth.
Ultra-high voltage was no joke.
Javier fired, severing the tentacles in a thunderous blast.
The remaining tentacles snapped back like overstretched rubber bands, smacking Mr. Lungs all over.
Paralyzed, he couldn’t control his body, and the tentacles pummeled his own face mercilessly.
In moments, Mr. Lungs’s chubby face had swollen even further, and his body shrank by half.
Slumped on the ground, he panted, grumbling, "How long will I have to eat before I regain my figure..."
Liana shook her head, speechless.
Watching the moray flop on the ground, sparking and crackling, Qiao spat contemptuously.
"What’s the old man playing at?"
"Electric eel genes in this thing—how are we supposed to deal with that?!"
Ye Hai frowned, considering. "There’s still some Sun Ladder Virus left in its body!"
"The old man must have left it there to give the moray super regeneration."
"I can use the virus to temporarily suppress its electric discharge."
"Liana, summon the two largest mutants you control in the forbidden zone to assist."
"Javier, get yourself ready—you’ll need to unleash maximum firepower..."
"We’ll punch a hole through the thinnest part of the moray’s belly!"
"This time, we’re not taking the front door!"
