Chapter 137: Willing to Fall for You 23
With final exams just around the corner, the southern city had finally managed to stumble into winter.
The gloomy sky drifted with a fine, misty drizzle, and the chilling wind, laden with dampness, struck straight at the face. No matter how many layers of clothing one wore, the biting cold managed to pierce right through to the soul, leaving everyone shivering uncontrollably.
This kind of weather was nothing short of a massive magic attack in real life.
The students were armed to the teeth, wearing thick garments that made them look bulkier than Antarctic penguins or Arctic bears—truly a large-scale scene of human dumplings wrapped in cotton.
"Good grief, final exams are in a couple of days, and this cold snap has to arrive right when we're testing," An Mila said, standing in the corridor. She rubbed her hands, basking in the brief warmth of a rare patch of sunlight, and let out a long sigh.
"This cursed weather is always like this. Remember how in summer, it would be gloriously sunny from Monday to Friday, only to pour torrential rain all weekend?"
"Precisely. The heavens are simply testing our willpower."
"It's too much! Winter is winter, why does it have to rain? I'm freezing to death."
"I've laid two cotton quilts on my bed at home, and even with three blankets piled on top, I'm still cold."
Yue Yixian remained silent, listening to the girls chatter away. Inwardly, she marveled at how fortunate it was that her body wasn't an ordinary one, which at least granted her some resistance against the dreadful southern winter.
"Oh, right! Do you remember that hyper-gorgeous foreign girl from the school sports meeting? I heard she's transferring to our school next semester."
"You mean the one with the blonde hair and blue eyes?"
"Yes, exactly her."
The girls shifted topics rapidly, but Yue Yixian didn't pay it much mind. After all, during the sports meeting, apart from the long-distance running events, she had spent all her time sweet-talking her own little darling and had no spare attention for anyone else.
After hanging out with her darling after school, exchanging a few hugs and kisses, she had parted ways with her in high spirits.
Suddenly, someone stepped out and blocked her path.
Yue Yixian looked up closely. The girl before her had blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing a red strapless top, a short black skirt, and pointed red high heels. Her smooth, fair shoulders were exposed, along with a pair of straight, slender white legs.
*Whoosh—* A cold wind laden with a fine drizzle swept past.
Yue Yixian, wrapped heavily in thick winter clothes, blinked. "My friend, aren't you cold?"
"..." She hadn't expected the opening remark to be this. The blonde, blue-eyed girl's expression twisted slightly. She patted her ample chest, raised her chin slightly, and asked with haughty arrogance, "Don't you have a single reaction when you look at me?"
"Yes," Yue Yixian nodded. "I think you look freezing."
"Hah, do you take me for a useless mortal like yourself?" the girl sneered, the look of contempt on her face growing even thicker.
Yue Yixian's lips twitched. Weren't you the one who asked for my reaction?
"I'm heading home, if you'll excuse me," Yue Yixian said, preparing to walk around this bizarre girl who valued vanity over warmth.
"Wait," the girl reached out to block her way again. "I haven't finished speaking yet. What's the rush?"
"My friend, are you looking for directions?" Yue Yixian asked.
"No, I'm here for you, Yue Yixian!" the girl pointed straight at her and shouted, "With your looks and your figure, how on earth did you manage to seduce His Majesty? Tell me, what curse did you cast on him?"
Yue Yixian: "..."
*His Majesty?* When had she ever seduced any His Majesty?
If "His Majesty" was meant to refer to someone, could it be Lucifer?
If her deductions were correct, Lucifer was Lin Xuan, and he was currently locked in a sweet romance with An Mila.
Why on earth wasn't this creature going after An Mila instead of coming to bother her?
"I don't know any His Majesty, please move aside," Yue Yixian told her. "I still have to go home and do my homework."
"Dare to do it and not admit it? What kind of spell did you put on His Majesty to make him so infatuated with you? Tell me!" Evidently, the girl refused to listen to a word she said.
"I genuinely don't know any His Majesty, and I have no interest in him. Besides, isn't it completely normal for someone you like not to like you back?" Yue Yixian was rendered speechless.
This villainous character must have been arranged by the author; her IQ was truly rock-bottom.
If you want to threaten or intimidate a rival in love, shouldn't you do it behind the scenes?
Charging out to openly challenge your love rival and pick a fight with her—wasn't this simply acting as a prime catalyst for the romantic progress of the male and female leads?
Upon hearing these words, the girl's eyes flashed fiercely. With a flick of her fair hand, with a crisp *snap*, a whip materialized out of thin air. "His Majesty *does* like me! You're courting death."
Seeing the whip descending toward Yue Yixian's face, and with the two of them standing so close, dodging was impossible.
Yue Yixian frowned slightly as two thoughts flashed through her mind: *Block? Or not block?*
She had no intention of exposing her identity as Michael, the Chief Seraph, right at this moment, but taking that whip directly would certainly hurt quite a bit.
Seeing her stare blankly at the whip, Lilith assumed she had been frightened out of her wits and laughed triumphantly. *That's what you get for seducing His Majesty. Today, I'm going to ruin that face of yours.*
"Tsk, Lilith, it's been so long, and you've specifically traveled to the Eastern realm to bully a defenseless girl?" A cool, detached voice rang out from behind Yue Yixian. A slender, delicate hand reached out and effortlessly caught the fiercely whistling whip without a single ripple of disturbance.
"..." A faint scent of lilies drifted into Yue Yixian's nostrils. She turned her head to see Gabriel dressed in a school uniform.
"Gabriel," Lilith said, recognizing the newcomer. She stepped back a few paces in vigilance and tugged hard on her whip. "Is it any of your business to meddle?"
"How is this meddling? Whatever else she might be, this woman will enter Heaven when she dies. You coming here like this is practically bullying right onto my doorstep. What's wrong with me protecting an angel under my jurisdiction?" Gabriel held the whip firmly in her right hand and looked at Lilith with utter disdain. "Is that all the strength you've got? Truly useless."
"You—" Lilith was boiling with rage. Her long golden hair whipped upward into the air, transforming into numerous snakes that darted their forked tongues and lunged straight toward Yue Yixian and Gabriel.
Yue Yixian's heart tightened, and her legs felt somewhat weak.
She was afraid of snakes.
Terrified of them!
"How boring," Gabriel said coldly. She raised her left hand, and with a swift flash of golden light, those snakes were instantly obliterated.
"Ahhh!" Lilith shrieked, tumbling backward onto the ground.
"Still want to fight?" Gabriel tossed the whip down in front of Lilith, looking down at her from above. "Want to continue? I happen to be in a rather bad mood."
Lilith gritted her teeth, glared fiercely at Gabriel, and then shot a venomous glare at Yue Yixian standing behind her. "You haven't heard the last of this. I will be back."
With that, her entire figure vanished into thin air.
"Um..." Yue Yixian was a bit puzzled and was about to ask her colleague what was going on.
Before she could, Gabriel grabbed her shoulders with a look of undisguised disgust and lingering anger. "Hah, I can't for the life of me figure out what a little angel like you did to make him care about you this much."
"Wait..." Gabriel, aren't you misunderstanding something?
