Chapter 019: School Mary Sue 17
Ke Yuandao awoke from a hazy stupor, letting out a low groan as a sharp, throbbing pain pulsed at the back of his head.
He instinctively tried to reach up and hold his head, only to discover he couldn’t move—he’d been tied up tightly with coarse hemp rope.
“You’re awake,” came a hoarse voice at his ear.
Ke Yuandao struggled to raise his head and saw, across from him, a girl also bound securely.
“You…” His brows knitted slightly. “Who are you?”
The room they were in was small, lit only by a single dim bulb overhead. The weak light revealed piles of miscellaneous junk; it looked like an abandoned storage shed.
“My name is Guo Yiyan,” the girl said, glancing at him. “We had dinner together at Li’s house, remember? Have you forgotten?”
“Li? Who’s that?” Ke Yuandao pressed.
Guo Yiyan fell silent, her eyes scrutinizing the boy across from her with suspicion. She muttered, “Did he get hit so hard he’s lost his memory? Or just gotten stupid?”
“Do you at least remember who you are? Who’s in your family?”
Ke Yuandao gave her a look reserved for fools. “You’re the one with amnesia. You’re the idiot. My name is Ke Yuandao!” He spoke his name with perfect clarity, not the least bit hesitant.
“So, do you remember how you ended up here?” Guo Yiyan asked again.
“I was just going backstage to get—” He stopped, confusion flickering across his face. What had he gone backstage for? He couldn’t remember. Never mind, it wasn’t important. He glared at the girl. “After I found you, someone hit me from behind. Who did you offend?”
“I didn’t offend anyone,” Guo Yiyan wailed, her face drawn in misery. Then she asked, “Does the leader of that ZZ4 club at your school count?”
After learning she was a girl, that guy had flown into a rage and called people to have her taken away. Were they planning to bury her alive out here in this desolate place?
ZZ4? A swaggering, handsome boy with spiky hair floated into Ke Yuandao’s mind, stirring up a sudden, unreasonable surge of jealousy and anger. Damn it, he already had a senior sister and still went looking for trouble everywhere…
Senior sister? Ke Yuandao paused, thrown off. He recalled the Li mentioned by Guo Yiyan and, somewhat awkwardly, asked, “That Li you mentioned… who is she?”
“Li?” Guo Yiyan’s face lit up with the fervor of a fangirl as she remembered. “Let me tell you, Li is absolutely gorgeous.”
Ke Yuandao nodded indifferently; in his circle, beautiful girls were hardly rare.
Guo Yiyan continued enthusiastically, “Her full name is Krichens Zi Galileo Victoria Alexander Li Muxue. She’s possessed of unrivaled beauty, long rainbow-colored hair, eats only flowers, drinks only mountain spring water, and has the gentlest temperament. When you see her, your entire world will be filled with her. To think such a beautiful girl could exist—she’s the most perfect fairy ever created by the gods!”
Ke Yuandao watched her growing fanaticism with a twitch at the corner of his mouth. “Are you sure her so-called rainbow hair isn’t just dyed?”
“Of course not!” Guo Yiyan protested, her eyes shining. “You have no idea how brilliant and beautiful her hair is. There’s no way it’s artificial. It’s because of a genetic mutation at birth, you know? Genetic mutation! Do you get it?”
Ke Yuandao was silent. Was she insulting him?
Just then, the door to the warehouse was kicked open from outside.
“The two brats are awake?!” Several burly, menacing men strode in. The leader nodded approvingly when he saw the two conscious captives. “Call your families and tell them to bring the ransom. Otherwise, I’ll kill you both!”
—
The news that two students from Stoneton Academy had been kidnapped on the day of the school’s anniversary quickly spread.
The An family, responsible for the school’s administration, cursed the kidnappers through gritted teeth. To abduct students on such an auspicious day was to publicly slap the face of the most powerful family in China. If they didn’t retrieve the students safely, the consequences for their reputation would be dire.
Upon receiving the news, the family’s representative rushed to the scene, where he immediately noticed two people who stood out starkly from the crowd.
“Young Master, Miss Li,” he greeted them anxiously.
Both regarded him with stony faces, and a cold sweat broke out on the representative’s brow—he had the distinct impression that these two were in a very foul mood.
Le Yixian was still holding that damned caterpillar, and after glancing at the representative, she turned to An Xiansi and asked, “Any news?”
“I’ve had my people check. The van did leave for the outskirts,” An Xiansi replied. “They must be hiding somewhere in the forest beyond the city.”
The forests east of the city were vast—finding a few people in them would be no easy task.
“Then send people out to search,” Le Yixian said, thinking back to the plot. She remembered only writing a scant description of the woods and couldn’t recall any details—just that the male and female leads were trapped inside for an entire week, during which their feelings for each other quickly solidified.
As for why she’d forgotten about this event, it was because, in the original plot, the person who orchestrated the kidnapping was the original protagonist herself. Watching Guo Yiyan and An Xiansi grow closer every day, the original had arranged for the female lead’s abduction, hoping to destroy her.
But the male lead had already held the heroine in his heart and mobilized all the power and resources of his family to search for her. By the third day, they’d found a clue, and then the two leads tumbled down a mountainside together.
Bickering and bantering with her own little darling, Le Yixian had somehow forgotten this plot point. No, deep down, she’d thought that if she didn’t act, the story wouldn’t play out as written.
Le Yixian lowered her gaze, lost in silent thought.
Now, not only the An family but also the Ke family had mobilized their people. Surprisingly, Miss Li of the Li family had also stayed at the scene and directed her family’s forces to join the search.
“Pig, your nose has two holes…” In the tense atmosphere, a loud ringtone suddenly rang out.
Everyone looked up. Under their gaze, An Xiansi took out his phone and answered, “Hello?”
“…Daddy!” On the other end, a girl’s choked voice sobbed.
“Guo Yiyan? Are you alright?” An Xiansi asked, anxiety in his voice.
“Daddy, please come save me! These people are so scary, wuwuwu!” Guo Yiyan continued to sob.
“Miss, cut the nonsense, hurry!” another voice barked in the background. “Hurry up, or I’ll chop off your hand!”
“Don’t you dare—” An Xiansi roared as soon as he heard that. “Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you, just don’t… don’t hurt my daughter!” The last five words were uttered through gritted teeth, as Le Yixian signaled him with a gesture.
