Chapter 027: Mary Sue on Campus (25)
With a face full of agony, An Xiansi didn’t notice the horrified looks his classmates were shooting in his direction. He turned to Le Yixian and said, “She’s close to you and admires you a lot. Could you go check on her for me?”
The moment these words left his lips, the looks from his classmates transformed yet again. Sending his fiancée to plead on his behalf with his current girlfriend? Was this guy a scoundrel or just unfathomably dense?
“Sure,” Le Yixian answered without hesitation.
If her silly son paired up with that sweet, innocent girl, then she could openly flaunt her own relationship with her beloved little darling.
“Thank you,” An Xiansi said sincerely, giving Le Yixian a deep look. The scene in the hospital room the other day flashed through his mind. He continued, “Let’s talk about breaking off the engagement this weekend.”
Ending the engagement—now that was good news. Le Yixian’s eyes lit up as she nodded. “Alright.”
Her cheerful acceptance, however, looked to the bystanders like a forced smile hiding her true feelings.
An Xiansi couldn’t linger. Ever since his father had found out about him and Guo Yiyi, he’d had people keeping watch on him. He’d only managed to return to school under the pretense of collecting something.
Without further delay, he hurried off after receiving Le Yixian’s answer.
Le Yixian watched as her foolish son limped away on his crutches, sighing inwardly—ah, youth. This is what it’s like to be young.
Her poor, silly boy looked so pitiful—injured, unable to rest, and not even able to enjoy a proper romance.
Beitang Chamo glanced at her cautiously, then spoke in a gentle tone, “Muxue, don’t be sad.”
Le Yixian looked at him in confusion. “I’m not sad.”
“You… We grew up together. There’s no need to put on a front for me,” Beitang Chamo’s eyes brimmed with tears. “The way you stared after that jerk Xiansi made it clear—you still have feelings for him.”
“No, I don’t like him at all.” Le Yixian straightened her expression and answered with grave seriousness.
Don’t pin the label of loving the male lead on me. If my sweetheart finds out, that’ll be a disaster.
“Muxue,” Beitang Chamo’s eyes shimmered with tears, “you’re so selfless.”
Le Yixian: ???
“For your sake, let’s not give Xiansi and that Guo kid a hard time,” Beitang Chamo wiped his face with a heavy sigh. “After all, it’s tough for two boys to be together these days.”
Le Yixian: !!!!!
What on earth are you all misunderstanding?
She lifted her gaze and swept the classroom, noticing quite a few girls with reddened eyes, some of whom burst into tears upon meeting her gaze.
“Sob, Li, I’m sorry. I always thought you were aloof, but I never imagined you’d be so noble, stepping aside for Xiansi and Guo’s love.”
“An is really too much. Compared to Guo, you’re much prettier!”
“An is such a scumbag.”
Le Yixian: Well, it seems the village idiot has turned into a notorious scumbag.
But thinking about it, in the original story, he really was a major scumbag—betrothed since childhood to a beautiful fiancée, yet still flirting around at school.
This supporting female character really is quite pitiful, Le Yixian thought, feeling a pang of guilt. After all, she’d written that ending herself.
She sent a message to Ke Yuandao: Don’t leave after school, wait for me at the school gate, I want to take you somewhere.
Only a few seconds after sending, Ke Yuandao replied: Okay.
He didn’t even ask where she intended to take him.
After class, Le Yixian pulled out the frog-themed cloak she’d bought during the school’s anniversary event from her bag and draped it over her blazing rainbow hair. That hair color was like a beacon in the dark—wherever she went, all eyes followed.
With her colorful hair covered, she became far less conspicuous.
When she reached the school gate, Le Yixian saw Ke Yuandao waiting with his backpack, anxiously scanning the crowd. The moment he spotted her, his eyes lit up.
He trotted over, glanced around, and called out, “Senior!”
“Let’s go,” Le Yixian said to him.
Ke Yuandao nodded, and seeing how obediently he followed without question, Le Yixian felt an irresistible urge to tease him. “Aren’t you going to ask where I’m taking you? Aren’t you afraid I’ll kidnap you?”
“Not at all,” Ke Yuandao shook his head, his gaze both resolute and bashful. “Wherever you want to take me is fine. Even if you want to… kidnap me, that’s fine too.”
Le Yixian stumbled, and Ke Yuandao hurried to steady her. Noticing the odd look she gave him, he couldn’t help but feel puzzled and touched his face. “Senior? Is there something on my face?”
Le Yixian gazed at his innocent expression and sighed softly, shaking her head. “Nothing.”
The Ke Yuandao of reality was already a top-class, shameless rogue; there was nothing left of this high school version’s innocent charm.
Looking at the fresh-faced Ke Yuandao before her, Le Yixian, whose soul was already that of a worldly auntie, found herself unable to take advantage of him—at most, she could tease him a little or steal a kiss.
They got into the car. The driver couldn’t help but glance at Ke Yuandao a few more times.
The master, madam, and several young masters had specifically instructed him to pay attention to the young miss’s social circle and see which boy might be the object of her affection.
However, when the driver looked in the rearview mirror, he saw his young miss smiling fondly as she handed a delicious little cake from the fridge to the boy.
“Thank you, senior,” the boy said politely as he accepted it.
“Eat more,” the young miss said, reaching out to ruffle his hair.
The driver averted his eyes. Clearly, the young miss only saw this younger boy as a little brother.
Judging by that indulgent look, he could report back to the master and madam that the young miss wanted to be an elder sister.
The car stopped at the entrance to a residential complex.
“Uncle Qian, please wait here for a bit,” Le Yixian told the driver before leading Ke Yuandao out of the car.
The driver watched them walk away, noting how the young miss took the initiative to hold Ke Yuandao’s hand as she led him into the complex, but he didn’t think much of it.
After all, Ke Yuandao was a whole head shorter than the young miss.
The driver jotted a note in his little notebook.
Aside from Young Master An, the other young masters in the classroom, including Beitang, could be possible candidates for the young miss’s affections—he would keep an eye on them. As for Ke Yuandao? Forget it, the young miss only thought of him as a little brother.
Guo Yiyi’s apartment was on the fourth floor of the building, which was old enough to have only stairs, no elevator.
When Guo Yiyi opened the door and saw Le Yixian standing outside, she was stunned for a moment before her expression changed and she promptly slammed the door shut.
