Chapter 029: Campus Mary Sue 27
The Li family, usually filled with warmth and laughter during breakfast, was unusually awkward this morning. The brothers' gazes were fixed intently on Ke Yuandao. Under their scrutiny, he was visibly nervous and barely touched his food throughout the meal.
Once breakfast finally ended, the eldest brother turned to Le Yixian and said, "We've planted new flowers in the garden for you. Would you like to take a look?"
"No," Le Yixian refused outright. She wasn’t fooled; she knew that if she went to see the flowers, this group of overprotective brothers would seize the opportunity to confront her beloved.
The eldest brother’s brows furrowed tightly. "Xue," he said.
"Senior sister, why not go see them?" Ke Yuandao suddenly spoke up.
All eyes immediately shifted to him.
Le Yixian studied him for a moment. Ke Yuandao reached out, took her hand, and smiled, "Senior sister, why not take a look? After all, it’s your brothers’ hard work."
The mention of “brothers” made the men frown even deeper. If looks could kill, the hand holding Le Yixian would have been shredded a thousand times over.
"Fine, I'll go have a look. You can come find me in the garden later," Le Yixian said, a bit surprised but nodding.
Seeing this, Li Mama rose. "I'll come with you."
"Mom," Le Yixian sighed in exasperation. This was clearly to prevent her from eavesdropping.
The Li family's garden was expansive, filled with all kinds of flowers thanks to the original owner. However, since it was winter, only the greenhouse held blooming flowers. Mother and daughter sat inside, sipping tea and chatting occasionally.
It wasn’t long before Ke Yuandao arrived. Li Mama stood and gave the young man some space.
Le Yixian looked him over carefully. He shrugged helplessly, "I’m fine, senior sister."
"Good," she pulled him down to sit. "What did my brothers say to you?"
"They told me to take good care of you," Ke Yuandao thought for a moment before answering.
Le Yixian arched an eyebrow. "Is that all?"
"Yes, that’s it," Ke Yuandao nodded. In truth, the brothers had said much more, but he distilled it from a torrent of threats: just treat her well in the future.
"You agreed?" Le Yixian asked.
Ke Yuandao nodded, "Of course, I’ll always be good to you."
"Alright. So, when are you taking me to your home?" Le Yixian slyly changed the subject.
Ke Yuandao was caught off guard. "???"
"You’ve already met my family. Don’t you plan on letting me meet yours?" she raised an eyebrow.
Realizing what she meant, Ke Yuandao’s face flushed red. "No... it’s not like that."
Le Yixian’s expression hardened immediately. "Not like that? You don’t want me to meet them?"
"No, no! Of course you can meet them, anytime!" Ke Yuandao hurried to explain, flustered by her words.
Seeing his anxious expression, Le Yixian couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Winter sunlight streamed through the glass dome of the greenhouse, warm and lazy, illuminating the girl in front of him until she seemed to glow.
Bang, bang, bang!
Ke Yuandao could hear his own heartbeat, could feel his voice trembling. "Senior sister, you’re teasing me again."
Le Yixian, eyes crinkling with laughter, rubbed her stomach and smiled, "Alright, I won’t tease you anymore."
She paused, a glint flashing in her eyes as she leaned closer to the blushing boy, whispering, "But when I tease you, this isn’t how I do it." With that, she breathed softly at his pale ear.
Ke Yuandao instinctively gripped his trousers, stammering, "S-senior sister, are you going to... tease me?"
"Yes," Le Yixian nodded, looking down at him. "Will you let me?"
Ke Yuandao straightened up and answered crisply, "Yes."
His quick answer made Le Yixian laugh again, her heart fluttering wildly.
She wanted so badly to pounce on him!
How could Ke Yuandao be this adorable in his youth?
Le Yixian wished she could go back in time and slap her past self for rejecting him so directly.
Look at this adorable boy—how could you possibly have turned him down?
Le Yixian placed her hand on his shoulder, slowly leaning closer and speaking gently, "You gave me permission to tease you."
Ke Yuandao gripped his trousers even tighter and nodded firmly.
Le Yixian licked her lips and moved in.
"Bang!" Suddenly, a heavy thud came from the flowerbed behind them, startling them both.
"Hey, bro, why did you kick me?" Turning around, they saw the fourth Li brother sitting on the floor, utterly aggrieved.
Behind the blossoming flowers stood three tall, handsome men, with the eldest brother at the front wearing a complex expression.
He had always assumed his little sister was an innocent rabbit.
All four had followed, worried about their naïve sister being alone with that Ke boy, only to witness her openly flirting with him.
At that moment, the eldest brother didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.
Happy, because it seemed his sister was the one teasing and taking advantage; sad, because she truly was growing up, falling in love, and their precious cabbage was going to be courted by someone else's pig—no, would be dating.
With this realization, the eldest brother felt conflicted. Snapping out of it, he saw his sister about to kiss.
As the ultimate overprotective brother, how could he stand by? With a younger brother conveniently nearby, he didn’t hesitate to kick him out of the way.
With four brothers' interference, Le Yixian and Ke Yuandao didn’t get to kiss.
Even as he left, Ke Yuandao was full of grievance.
He stood by the car, holding the return gift from Li Mama, lips pressed together, reluctant to leave. "See you in two days, senior sister."
Why did school only start in two days? He was truly unhappy.
"See you in two days," Le Yixian smiled.
The driver had already opened the car door for him.
Ke Yuandao reluctantly got in.
After getting in, someone tapped on the car window.
He rolled it down and met Le Yixian’s smiling eyes. She said, "There’s something I forgot to tell you."
Ke Yuandao leaned closer, "What is it..."
But he didn’t finish.
All he felt was the warm breath against his cheek.
Le Yixian kissed him, then stepped back and waved, "See you in two days."
Ke Yuandao covered his face, his expression silly as the driver drove him away.
The Li brothers, witnessing everything at the gate: What the heck!
