Chapter 45: The Troops Deploy for Expansion! The Manual Shocks the Deputy Chief of Staff
“This meeting has only one agenda.”
“The development of the troops!”
“I know everyone is curious about why the regiment headquarters wants to form an independent company.”
Everyone nodded eagerly, their eyes fixed on Li Yunlong.
“In addition to securing the current arrangements and responsibilities of the base area, the regiment headquarters has decided to form an independent company to go out and develop the troops,” Li Yunlong announced.
“The troops will expand outward in units of companies and platoons. I have only one requirement for the independent company.”
“Within the bounds of discipline, develop the troops to the best of your ability. You have two months.”
“Whether you become a nag or a steed depends entirely on your own skill.”
At these words, the room erupted in astonishment.
This was tantamount to the regiment commander granting them autonomy!
At the same time, they understood this was the commander’s trust in them.
Otherwise, how could they be entrusted with leading the development efforts?
In their hearts, they were filled with gratitude toward Li Yunlong and silently vowed to work hard to repay the commander’s kindness.
At this moment, Liu Yuan interjected with a reminder: “Commanders at all levels must restrain their troops and must not do anything that damages the image of our army...”
“Also, the company must report the status of the unit to the regiment once every month.”
“Understood!” everyone responded in unison.
Then Li Yunlong waved his hand, and the guards quickly distributed the Militia Military Training Manuals to the company commanders.
“This is a manual to guide new recruit training. Commanders at all levels can use its contents to instruct new recruits, rapidly improving their individual abilities.”
“An army thrives on quality, not quantity. While developing, you must also focus on training and cultivating individual skills...”
Curious, everyone took the manuals and began to leaf through them.
This was also why Li Yunlong had assigned a few educated comrades to each company.
At the same time, each independent company was equipped with several medics to ensure the safety of the troops.
These medics would carry copies of the Barefoot Doctor Manual with them, preparing to expand medical capabilities.
They carried the responsibility of ensuring the company’s medical care, while also bearing the mission of developing medical support.
Li Yunlong looked at the group studying the manuals, clapped his hands, and said, “Study this well and start developing as soon as possible!”
“Yes, sir!” everyone stood up in response, then excitedly withdrew.
To ensure the independent company’s development went smoothly, Li Yunlong had also supplied them generously with weapons and ammunition.
Every soldier had a rifle, accompanied by three machine guns and three grenade launchers. Each person had 200 rounds of ammunition, and there were a full 60 artillery shells.
It was an impressively lavish provision!
...
Elsewhere,
In the direction of the One-Sky-Through crevice, at the Huangyadong base area,
After some time of effort, with the help of the local people and countless ordnance workers using simple tools like iron picks and hoes, part of the ordnance factory’s construction had been preliminarily completed.
Due to the local scarcity of bricks and timber, the engineers had to carve into the mountains and stones to build workshops and dormitories.
Through manpower, horse transport, and disassembly methods, the equipment was finally moved to the ordnance factory.
To ensure the frontline’s ammunition and weapons needs, the factory had to produce while still under construction.
Under the guidance of the deputy chief of staff, the related work was fully underway.
The subsequent efforts only required various departments to continue construction.
After all, he was still the deputy chief of staff of the Eighth Route Army, with other tasks to attend to.
Just as the deputy chief of staff arranged the related work,
The communications soldiers of the new First Regiment arrived at the Huangyadong ordnance factory.
After passing through layers of security, they were led by guards into a simple room.
This was the command center of the Huangyadong ordnance factory.
“Report!”
“Come in!”
The guard entered, saluted, and reported, “Commander, the new First Regiment has sent someone over, saying they have something to hand over to you.”
The deputy chief of staff was slightly taken aback, smiling, “Could it be that Li Yunlong knows he’s returning to headquarters?”
“Let him come in.”
“Yes!” the guard responded and quickly led the communications soldier inside.
The soldier saluted and then took out a package from his chest, handing it over. “This is something the regiment commander insisted I deliver to you.”
The deputy chief of staff looked at the soldier with curiosity and opened the package.
Seeing a notebook and a letter inside, he was even more puzzled.
He opened and examined them.
“A Militia Military Training Manual?”
Curious, the deputy chief of staff flipped through the notebook and read its contents.
The smile on his face gradually shifted to astonishment and shock...
The scope of the Militia Military Training Manual was broad, simple, and easy to understand, which amazed him.
This was simply the best manual for guiding new recruits.
It could rightly be called a divine book.
The deputy chief of staff understood the value of this manual very well, especially for an army whose strength was rapidly swelling—it was immensely important.
This was a manual to guide a unit in quickly forming combat capability!
Who could have compiled this?
Such talent!
Could it be Liu Yuan?
He thought so because of Liu Yuan’s knowledge, combined with Li Yunlong’s ability—it was plausible they could have created such a manual.
Especially the tone of the text carried Li Yunlong’s distinctive style.
Although simple and straightforward, it was clear and easy to grasp.
This was rare!
Perfectly suited to the current situation of our forces.
A thousand thoughts flashed through the deputy chief of staff’s mind.
After collecting his thoughts, he examined the letter.
It contained an explanation of the current deployment of the new First Regiment.
After reading it, the deputy chief of staff felt greatly reassured.
With this, the security of the ordnance factory could be better guaranteed.
Excellent!
Then the deputy chief of staff asked the communications soldier, “Comrade, do you know who compiled this manual?”
The soldier thought for a moment and said, “I think it was Dongfang Wenying and her team, but I’m not sure.”
Dongfang Wenying?
The deputy chief of staff knew this was unlikely, given her current understanding of military training was not at such a level.
He glanced at the time and decided not to dwell on the matter.
After all, he had to rush back to headquarters.
No matter who compiled the manual, he would read it thoroughly first and later ask the new First Regiment for details.
He had only skimmed it casually just now.
“All right, thank you for your hard work,” the deputy chief of staff nodded slightly, then packed up and returned to headquarters.
...
At the new First Regiment base,
Regiment headquarters.
Just as Li Yunlong was organizing the content of “Friends of Military and Civilian Talents,”
Liu Yuan came in curiously and asked, “Old Li, the troops have all departed.”
“What are you writing there?”
Li Yunlong glanced at Liu Yuan and explained, “I’m organizing some things. I happen to need to ask you about something.”
“About...”
