Fu Yanzhou heard crying and quickly hurried to the nursery. As soon as he entered, he saw Fu Jinxing sitting on the carpet, crying sorrowfully.

“What’s wrong?”

He stepped forward, gently lifting his daughter into his arms, softly soothing her.

Clinging to her father, Fu Jinxing felt even more aggrieved, sobbing so hard she was out of breath. But she refused to admit that her sadness was because Lin Zhiwan had truly left. She just kept crying without saying a word.

Fu Yanzhou thought something was wrong with Fu Jinxing and immediately called a servant, instructing them to summon the family doctor.

The servant soon arrived at the nursery.

“Miss, are you still itchy? Madam already applied the medicine last night, so it should have healed by now. Hmm? Where is Madam?”

Fu Jinxing hiccupped and said,

“She left!”

“Left?”

The servant was surprised. “Madam didn’t rest all last night; how could she leave so early this morning?”

Fu Yanzhou frowned.

“You mean she didn’t sleep at all?”

“Yes! Whenever Miss has an allergic reaction, Madam always takes care of her like this! Last night Miss cried terribly and refused to take the medicine. We had no choice but to call Madam. Madam gave her the medicine and held her, comforting her for a long time before she finally slept. Also, Madam was afraid Miss might scratch the rashes while sleeping and leave scars, so she stayed awake guarding her without a blink. In the early morning, Miss even vomited all over Madam. Sir, Madam really takes good care of Miss; you shouldn’t be angry with her. Please let Madam come back!”

Fu Yanzhou’s frown deepened.

“You’re saying she dressed like that because her clothes were dirty?”

The servant nodded.

“Yes! When Miss is sick, she clings only to Madam and won’t let go. She also sleeps restlessly at night; Madam practically held her all night. I thought since you came back, Madam would rest, but she left!”

Only then did Fu Yanzhou realize his mistake in blaming Lin Zhiwan. He had spoken harshly, no wonder Lin Zhiwan had been so upset as to lose her temper!

He waved his hand, dismissing the servant first.

Fu Jinxing stopped crying. She knew everything the servant just said, but she had also heard what Lin Zhiwan said earlier with her own ears.

Children don’t understand that adults sometimes say things in anger that aren’t truly meant.

Her small hands clenched together, uncertain what to do.

Fu Yanzhou glanced at his daughter in his arms.

“Are the rashes still itchy?”

Fu Jinxing shook her head.

She nestled in her father’s arms, thinking about how she had just driven Lin Zhiwan away. She hadn’t even allowed Lin Zhiwan to come in and change clothes.

“Daddy, I did something wrong.”

Fu Yanzhou asked gently,

“What is it?”

The little one fiddled with her fingers and whispered,

“I made Lin Zhiwan angry and she left.”

Thinking of what she had done to Lin Zhiwan just now, Fu Jinxing felt she was a bad child. She didn’t want to be bad and didn’t want Lin Zhiwan to actually leave. She had missed Lin Zhiwan a lot these past days…

Fu Yanzhou held his daughter close and kissed her cheek.

“Daddy was wrong too. Daddy blamed her unfairly and said harsh things to her. When she comes back, we’ll apologize to her, okay?”

Fu Jinxing sobbed and nodded. Soon after, she fell asleep in her father’s arms.

Lin Zhiwan drove back to Wangjiangchao. Fortunately, it was still early and the garage was nearly empty; otherwise, her wearing that outfit would have been terribly embarrassing if anyone saw her.

She hurried into the elevator.

She had thought there would be no one in the elevator at this time, but when the doors opened, she saw a person standing inside.

It was Song Jinhe!

“Miss Lin? Why are you dressed so lightly? Come in quickly!”

Song Jinhe draped her own coat over Lin Zhiwan’s shoulders.

“Thank you,” Lin Zhiwan said softly.

She glanced at Song Jinhe’s clothes. “Miss Song, are you going for a run?”

Song Jinhe smiled, “Yes! Just about to head out.”

She noticed Lin Zhiwan’s attire but tactfully didn’t press further.

Lin Zhiwan knew how pitiful she looked. She didn’t even know how to explain. Returning to her soon-to-be ex-husband’s home late at night, caring for the child all night, and then being sent out in such disheveled clothes at dawn.

Luckily, Miss Song was understanding and didn’t ask too much.

The elevator quickly reached the first floor.

Lin Zhiwan was about to return the coat when Song Jinhe said,

“You should keep it for now. You don’t look well—you might have caught a chill. Make sure to rest well when you get back. Leave the coat here. If you have time tonight, come over to my place. I have a lot of porcelain collections, all acquired by my husband over the years. Since you’re so knowledgeable about ceramics, you’ll definitely like them. Don’t worry, I’ll keep Duo Duo locked up so it won’t scare you.”

At this point, Lin Zhiwan found it hard to refuse.

Moreover, others might enter the elevator at any time, and she really shouldn’t be in just pajamas.

“Thank you, Miss Song!”

“You’re welcome!”

The elevator doors closed again. Lin Zhiwan looked at her reflection in the mirror and felt utterly exhausted.

Back at her residence, after taking her medicine, Lin Zhiwan entered the bathroom. She took off the pajamas she had worn and tossed them in the trash bin.

Fu Yanzhou had already gone to the company early in the morning.

In the office, Wang Xueying was reporting the schedule for the day. Ever since she had witnessed Lin Zhiwan’s charm at the auction, Wang Xueying realized that a woman as outstanding as Lin Zhiwan could never win Fu Yanzhou’s true heart—so she certainly had no chance.

She put aside inappropriate feelings and focused on doing her job well as a secretary.

“President Fu, tonight’s banquet, President Wang has a last-minute engagement and asked to reschedule.”

“Mm,” Fu Yanzhou nodded, acknowledging.

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now.”

Wang Xueying turned to leave.

“Wait!”

Fu Yanzhou called after her.

“Find out where Lin Zhiwan has been staying these past few days.”

Wang Xueying complied and left the office.

She was quite surprised—had Lin Zhiwan really not gone home all this time? Thinking of the woman who had shone so brightly at the auction, Wang Xueying glanced back toward the CEO’s office. Was President Fu trying to reconcile with Lin Zhiwan? But now that Lin Zhiwan was back in the auction scene, would she even want to return?

She couldn’t understand. If President Fu didn’t love Lin Zhiwan, why did he still care where she was?

As for the woman in President Fu’s heart—anyone who studied at University A had probably heard the stories about their “three musketeers.” But if President Fu still hadn’t let go of that woman, why did he choose to divorce in the first place?

Lin Zhiwan woke up to find it was already evening.

Her phone showed a message from Song Jinhe, inviting her to visit that night.

Lin Zhiwan picked out a well-aged bottle of red wine and took the coat from that morning along with her.

Miss Song had mentioned having many porcelain collections at home, and Lin Zhiwan wanted to see them for herself.
