Late spring night, mildly cool.

A gentle breeze stirred, causing delicate blossoms on the branches to fall like a shower of romantic petals.

Shen Cenzhi lowered his gaze, his eyes dark and unclear, unerringly fixed upon the girl's exquisite and radiant face.

His eyes were black and deep, like a terrifying abyss, and even behind his glasses, the turbulent desires surging deep within them could not be concealed.

Seeing the man before her remain silent, Wei Yang felt a tightness in her chest; her fingertips slowly clenched, yet her expression remained unchanged, still adorned with a smile.

She reassured herself mentally that she had done nothing wrong and had no reason to fear him.

As if tired of watching her embarrassment, Shen Cenzhi slowly curled the corners of his mouth into a faint, ambiguous smile and asked, "Boyfriend?"

His voice was low and hoarse, tinged with a dark undertone.

Wei Yang was momentarily stunned, only belatedly realizing what he meant. She quickly shook her head and said, "No."

Shen Cenzhi said, "Since he’s not your boyfriend, it would be best to keep your distance from now on."

Wei Yang’s expression shifted slightly, her fingertips tightening further. She wanted to retort but, remembering he was now her boss—and that this new employer paid her more than before—she forcefully suppressed the burgeoning defiant impulse.

She lowered her eyes in obedience and replied meekly, "I understand, President Shen."

Shen Cenzhi’s lips curved slightly. "Get in the car! I’ll take you."

Wei Yang was momentarily caught off guard, a look of surprise flashing in her eyes. She instinctively wanted to refuse, "No—"

But Shen Cenzhi gave her no chance to speak. He leaned forward and settled into the backseat; the door remained open, waiting for her to follow.

Wei Yang clenched her jaw in frustration, tempted to turn and walk away.

Yet she swallowed that impulse and mechanically stepped beside Shen Cenzhi, sitting down.

The cabin felt cramped, the atmosphere heavy and silent.

She sat upright, head bowed, obediently staring at her fingers, not daring even a breath.

As the car started moving, before Shen Cenzhi could speak, she gave the driver the address of her home.

"Quite sensible of you," the man beside her remarked with cold sarcasm.

Wei Yang lowered her eyes, remaining silent, her delicate fingers nervously intertwined.

Shen Cenzhi’s eyes narrowed, seemingly displeased by her silence, but he said nothing, his gaze growing even darker and more profound.

There will be plenty of time ahead.

Perhaps from a sleepless night and a long day’s toil, a heavy wave of drowsiness soon washed over Wei Yang.

Shen Cenzhi noticed she had fallen asleep after more than ten minutes.

His expression shifted subtly; he squinted almost imperceptibly, then carefully removed his suit jacket and gently draped it over her.

The girl’s breath was steady but warm.

He leaned in slightly, and a burning heat rose from his lower abdomen to his forehead, surging like a breaking flood.

“Yanli.”

The woman stood on tiptoe, her jade-like arms softly encircling the man’s neck, her tender lips parting slightly.

Her breath was hot and suggestive.

Xie Yanli narrowed his eyes, his gaze darkening as he bent down to kiss her.

The woman’s heart leapt in delight; she responded eagerly to the man’s passion.

A strong metallic scent of blood spread, and before Zhao Wenqian could fully register it, she heard Xie Yanli stifle a grunt.

The corner of his mouth, previously bitten by Wei Yang, was bleeding again.

In that moment, his mind was flooded with images of pressing Wei Yang against a wall, his eyes igniting with desire, only to quell it immediately.

Xie Yanli pushed Zhao Wenqian away.

She stumbled slightly, her eyes reddening instantly, but she maintained a composed façade and asked, "Yanli, what’s wrong with your mouth? It looks like you’re bleeding."

In truth, Zhao Wenqian had noticed the skin broken at his mouth corner right after he came out of the restroom.

But since he said nothing, she chose not to question him further.
