Chapter 15: Outwitted by One’s Own Cunning

“This is the general overview. Now, everyone can speak freely about the sections they are responsible for.”

Yu Zi spoke for a full two hours. Even without the aid of a projector, her presentation was clear and well-organized, her tone steady and confident, leaving no room for fault.

When questions arose intermittently, Yu Zi responded with ease and precision, surprising everyone.

By the end, the room was filled with a sense of anticipation; some even wished to challenge her with tougher questions.

The business department, already irritable from days of overtime, had almost resigned themselves to abandoning the meeting upon hearing about the projector issue that morning.

Yet once Yu Zi began to speak, they listened more attentively than anyone else, their faces showing genuine admiration.

“All three proposals are excellent. I didn’t expect Director Yu to have such mature ideas already. Though some details need refinement, the foundation is impressive. We can confidently take over from here,” said the head of the business department.

The legal department leader smiled and nodded in agreement.

“Truly worthy of being Director Yu’s daughter—her capability is remarkable. I initially thought you might not have considered the contractual risks, but your thoroughness impresses me. Your plan is solid and can be implemented through the standard procedures.”

With these endorsements, the meeting room buzzed with lively discussion as everyone shared their perspectives.

Yu Yangyang, who had been waiting for Yu Zi to falter, found herself stunned. The very incident she had engineered to undermine Yu Zi had instead elevated her.

Her expression flickered between pale and flushed, visibly distressed.

Seeing the satisfied looks on everyone’s faces only deepened her resentment, making her wish she could confront Yu Zi then and there.

By the time the projector was repaired, the meeting was already winding down.

Yu Zi wasted no time opening the projector and quickly ran through the presentation again, making adjustments based on the feedback received.

What had seemed destined to be a tough battle had surprisingly ended early.

As everyone departed, they praised Yu Zi without reservation.

“Director Yu is truly young and gifted. Like father, like daughter. I think Director Yu can rest easy in the future.”

“Not only is your cooperation skill outstanding, but your calmness under pressure commands my respect as well.”

Yu Zi smiled humbly and nodded.

“This is the result of everyone’s collective effort, not something I could have achieved alone.”

The group’s approval deepened at her modest words.

Only the assistant trailed behind Yu Zi, wearing a look of apology.

“I’m sorry, Director Yu. You gave me a small task, and I ended up messing it up.”

Yu Zi shook her head and offered a few comforting words.

“This isn’t your fault. It was deliberately done by certain people. Just be more careful next time.”

Yu Yangyang followed behind Yu Zi, her head down, utterly dejected, barely hearing the rest of what Yu Zi said.

Suddenly, she looked up to find Yu Zi watching her with a faint, enigmatic smile. Yu Yangyang immediately recalled what Yu Zi had said earlier.

“Yu Zi, don’t look at me like that. This has nothing to do with me. I don’t even know what happened with the projector. Don’t try to pin this on me.”

Yu Zi narrowed her eyes and let out a soft, amused chuckle.

“Yu Yangyang, you really are foolish. Do you actually think there’s no surveillance in the meeting room?”

Startled, Yu Yangyang blurted out, “I destroyed the cameras long ago. Even if they’re there, what does it matter? They’re just for show!”

Only after the words left her mouth did she realize her mistake. Panicking, she hurried to explain.

“No, I misspoke just now. This has nothing to do with me! Yu Zi, don’t even think about framing me!”
