“No, of course not. I’ve been unwell lately; maybe I really did missee it,” Yu Cheng said, not daring to argue. The Xie family was not someone he could afford to offend, so he forced himself to admit his mistake.

“In that case, Mr. Yu, how do you plan to compensate my fiancée?” Xie Yuhuai stood before Yu Zi with a faint, knowing smile directed at Yu Cheng.

Though he said nothing, it was clear to everyone that if Yu Cheng didn’t provide a satisfactory answer, Xie Yuhuai would not let the matter drop.

Yu Cheng felt stifled but could only force a conciliatory smile and ask, “What does Xiao Huai mean?”

“What Yu Zi means is exactly what I mean,” Xie Yuhuai said, stepping forward to back Yu Zi.

Yu Zi looked at the man standing protectively before her, her heart swelling with mixed emotions.

Sensing the gazes of those around her, she regained her composure and fixed her eyes on Yu Yangyang, speaking calmly: “I think the reason my sister likes to cause these little troubles is probably because she has too much free time. If we just take away her allowance, she’ll naturally focus more on her work.”

The implication was clear.

Unwilling to accept this, Yu Yangyang immediately stood up and retorted to Yu Zi, “No, I don’t agree. How can you just cut off my allowance? I won’t accept that.”

But under the current circumstances, Yu Cheng had no other choice.

He merely shot Yu Yangyang a sharp glare before nodding reluctantly. “Don’t worry. I promise from now on, Yangyang will only have her basic salary.”

Upon hearing this, Yu Zi nodded without indicating whether she believed him or not, then turned and walked toward the door.

When there was no sound from behind her, she spoke to Xie Yuhuai, “What are you still standing there for? Let’s go.”

Only then did Xie Yuhuai follow, a faint glimmer of amusement in his eyes.

Yu Cheng, hearing Yu Zi’s words, spoke to Xie Yuhuai, “Since you’re here, Xiao Huai, why not stay for a meal?”

Xie Yuhuai thought it a fine suggestion, but Yu Zi immediately declined with a sharp tone: “No need. With such a precious constitution, I doubt he’s used to the Xie family’s food.”

Her words were laced with sarcasm, though Xie Yuhuai didn’t immediately grasp the underlying meaning.

Yet he knew well enough that Yu Zi didn’t want him to stay. With a wry smile, he shook his head.

“I think it’s best to leave it for another day. We’ll pay a formal visit then.”

Before Yu Cheng could say another word to persuade him, Xie Yuhuai had already followed Yu Zi outside.

Yu Yangyang nearly burst into tears at the sight, her eyes filled with infatuation as she watched Xie Yuhuai’s retreating figure.

“Mom, I want to marry Xie Yuhuai.”

Jiang Shuqi was also quite satisfied with Xie Yuhuai, but unfortunately, he had explicitly requested Yu Zi.

“You… that’s because you’re not old enough yet. Enough nonsense. You need to seriously reflect on today’s events.”

Yu Cheng’s expression darkened upon hearing this.

He stared at Yu Yangyang with a heavy gaze, his voice laden with warning.

“Yangyang, this is the first and last time. How you two sisters compete is your own business, but remember this clearly: I will not allow you to harm the company’s interests.”

“The company is the fruit of all my years of toil. I absolutely cannot stand by and watch it be destroyed by my own hands. If this happens again, I won’t let you off so easily.”

“Xie Yuhuai, what exactly are you trying to do?”
