Chapter 31: Show Some Respect for the Medicine in Your System
"Yuyu, is that the kind of person you think I am?"
Xie Yuhuai gave a miserable laugh.
Yu Zi did not answer, but her silence was an answer in itself.
Xie Yuhuai irritably raked his hair, saying nothing more. He simply stared at Yu Zi, the two of them locked in a silent standoff, neither willing to be the first to yield.
"I'll take you to the hospital."
After a long silence, Xie Yuhuai finally offered this explanation.
The disappointment in Yu Zi’s eyes pierced his heart; he felt as though countless knives were stabbing into his chest, the pain excruciating.
Yu Zi, who had been silent, curled her fingers slightly. When she looked up, she saw the hollow look in Xie Yuhuai’s eyes, as if he had been abandoned by the entire world.
She felt a momentary flicker of softness and wanted to apologize, but before she could open her mouth, Xie Yuhuai had already opened the door.
Yu Zi pursed her lips and walked out first, with Xie Yuhuai following silently behind her.
Once they were out of the club, Yu Zi hesitated, then spoke.
"I can go to the hospital by myself. Xu Nuo seemed upset tonight; you should go and keep her company. I’ll be fine on my own."
At these words, Xie Yuhuai’s brow furrowed deeply, his tone filled with confusion.
"What do my affairs have to do with her?"
"Ha, a scumbag through and through."
Seeing that Xie Yuhuai refused to admit it, Yu Zi cursed him before walking ahead.
Xie Yuhuai, standing to the side, was filled with doubt and anger, unable to understand why Yu Zi kept dragging Xu Nuo into their business.
But before he could press her for an answer, he saw her walking away and had to push the matter aside to chase after her.
"I’m coming with you."
The mere sight of him made Yu Zi angry, and her tone was naturally harsh.
"My business is none of your concern. Young Master Xie should go find his junior."
"Yu Zi, are you being reasonable at all? Never mind that I never agreed to break up back then; even if we had, I am still your fiancé. Every single thing about you is my business to manage!"
Seeing Yu Zi’s persistent attempts to distance herself from him, Xie Yuhuai could no longer restrain himself and spoke out of sheer spite.
"Ha, Xie Yuhuai, I will never be with you. I refuse to believe I can't find someone else willing to enter into a marriage alliance with me!"
As she finished speaking, the effects of the drug suddenly hit her, and Yu Zi nearly collapsed to the ground.
Fortunately, Xie Yuhuai had been watching her closely. He noticed her instability immediately and swept her into his arms, preventing her from falling.
He carried her bridal-style and headed toward his sports car.
"Put me down, I can walk myself."
Yu Zi struggled uncomfortably.
"My dear lady, please have some respect for the drugs in your system. Even if we have our differences, don't gamble with your own body."
"It's night, and you've been drugged. Are you really sure you can walk to the hospital alone?"
Seeing what had just happened, Xie Yuhuai was clearly shaken. He suppressed his temper and said helplessly.
Yu Zi wanted to be stubborn and claim she could, but as time passed, the drug began to take full effect.
Her vision grew blurry, and waves of intense heat surged through her body, one after another, vying for control.
If she really tried to go alone, she would likely meet with disaster on the way.
She bit her lip to stifle a moan, her hands gripping his shirt tightly as her body felt as if it were being roasted alive.
Xie Yuhuai, holding her, was suffering just as much. Despite that, since Yu Zi insisted on the hospital, he could only grit his teeth and whisper in her ear.
"I told you to let me be your antidote, but you wouldn't listen. Now look, you’ll be suffering for at least another hour."
"Yu Zi, you’ve become terrible at making deals."
She was already in agony, and with Xie Yuhuai buzzing in her ear like a fly, she couldn't help but land a heavy slap on him, frowning as she said:
"Shut up. Go to the hospital."
"Yu Zi, I truly owe you everything."
