Chapter 58 I Want to See Rivers of Blood
"Could Xu Ke possibly be here looking at Qin Luo?"
"No way, isn't she supposed to hate Qin Luo? Besides, Qin Luo has stopped chasing her and is after Yao Yanyan now anyway. Why would she go out of her way to look for him?"
"That's because you don't understand. Some women are just like that—they might not want you, but they also won't allow you to like anyone else."
"Holy shit, seriously? Is she about to march over here and throw down with Yao Yanyan?"
"Surely not? Knowing Xu Ke's personality, would she really start a catfight over a man?"
"I used to think it was impossible, but now it's hard to say."
"Fight! Fight! Fight! I want to see blood run in the streets!"
The gossiping onlookers clicked their tongues in wonder, wearing playful grins. Most of them looked utterly thrilled, their eyes practically glowing with excitement. When they glanced at Qin Luo, their gazes were a mix of admiration, bitterness, and malicious glee, clearly already imagining the miserable fate awaiting him.
As the focal point of all this, Qin Luo remained unfazed by the surrounding attention. He simply watched quietly as Xu Ke walked all the way over, then took off his glasses and looked away. His expression was flat, with no emotional fluctuation in his eyes, as if the person approaching had nothing to do with him at all—even though Xu Ke was glaring at him with a face full of lingering resentment, a grievance that naturally extended to Yao Yanyan sitting right beside him.
Yao Yanyan, however, showed no negative emotions whatsoever in response to Xu Ke's arrival. In fact, her reaction was much like the other students'; the look she gave Qin Luo was filled with amusement, as if she were eagerly waiting to see how he would handle the situation.
Finally, under everyone's watchful eyes, Xu Ke sat down right next to Qin Luo.
At that moment, countless students raised their eyebrows, and even the instructor wore an intrigued expression. They noticed that after sitting down, Xu Ke neither looked at Qin Luo or Yao Yanyan nor whispered anything to anyone, acting as though she had simply come to sit in on the lecture.
Yet everyone present knew that a storm of hidden violence had already begun behind the scenes. Though safely outside the eye of the storm, they couldn't see every detail clearly, but that did nothing to dampen their enthusiasm for the spectacle.
Especially the troublemakers among them, whose excited little expressions were so transparent they might as well have written "Start a brawl already" on their faces, as if they were watching a breaking news report about a scumbag cheating and getting what he deserved.
Yet Qin Luo, the main character, showed no awareness whatsoever of being at the center of the storm. Despite falling into the delicate and awkward predicament of being sandwiched between two women, he maintained a completely detached demeanor. His calm and steady posture—like a mountain collapsing before his eyes without a change in facial expression—prompted many of the male students to silently give him a thumbs-up.
"Everyone, quiet down. Let's continue with the class... Now, who was it? Whoever wanted to come up and sing earlier, you can come up now."
The music teacher gave a light cough, finally attempting to restore some order to the classroom.
The female student who had been called upon walked toward the podium, turning back to look three times with every step she took. Her gaze kept darting between the one man and two women, her aggrieved expression mirroring that of a reader hitting a cliffhanger during the climax of a novel, filled with regret and frustration. Her singing performance was equally lifeless and devoid of spirit.
Even the teacher couldn't concentrate on her singing; his eyes kept straying toward the trio, his desire to watch the drama unfold being no less than that of the students.
Unfortunately, the three of them refused to make a move. Xu Ke and Qin Luo, in particular, looked so intensely focused on the singing student that you wouldn't believe it. Ever since Xu Ke sat down, neither of them had spared the other a single glance.
Yao Yanyan, on the other hand, ignored the girl singing on stage and instead studied Xu Ke with keen interest. Sitting so close, she could clearly feel the heavy resentment and grievance hidden beneath Xu Ke's expressionless mask. That bitterness practically hung in the air around her, enveloping both Yao Yanyan and Qin Luo. Even students sitting a bit further away felt an inexplicable prickle of discomfort, as if a vengeful spirit had just entered the classroom.
Yao Yanyan had no idea what was going on in Qin Luo's head right now, but she personally found the whole thing quite amusing.
After a brief thought, just as the girl on stage finished and stepped down, Yao Yanyan suddenly stood up and said, "Teacher, I'd like to sing a song too."
The crowd turned at the sound of her voice to see that Yao Yanyan was already on her feet. She looked at the teacher on the podium with a smile, her expression eager to try.
The students looked rather surprised at this development. As her classmates, they were well aware of Yao Yanyan's musical capabilities. When it came to looks, figure, and temperament, perhaps no girl in the class could rival her, and the male students were utterly defenseless against her charm. But when it came to singing, Yao Yanyan was definitely at the very bottom of the class.
The students knew this all too well, which was why none of them expected Yao Yanyan to step forward at a time like this. Some even wore expressions of faint disdain.
The teacher also cast a doubtful glance at Yao Yanyan. Looking somewhat suspicious, his gaze swept over Qin Luo and Xu Ke, wondering if he had unwittingly become a prop in their three-way drama.
Still, since a student was showing enthusiasm, it wouldn't do for a teacher to refuse. He nodded and replied, "All right, come on up and give it a try."
Yao Yanyan smiled and made a move to head toward the podium.
Because the chairs were foldable and attached to the desks in the back row when unoccupied—similar to a movie theater layout—it was inconvenient for Yao Yanyan to get out from her seat while Qin Luo was sitting there, unless she squeezed directly through the narrow gap between Qin Luo and the desk.
Qin Luo wasn't fat; he had a well-proportioned build, but even with his back pressed flat against the chair, the space between him and the desk remained limited. He started to stand up to make way for her, but Yao Yanyan directly pressed her hands down on his shoulders.
Qin Luo looked up at her, meeting Yao Yanyan's teasing gaze. Then, he watched as she squeezed directly into the tight space between him and the desk, maneuvering her way out with nearly half her body pressed against him.
Xu Ke, sitting on the outer end, had just stood up to clear the aisle. Seeing this scene, she froze for a split second, and naturally, the memory of Qin Luo and Yao Yanyan kissing yesterday flashed through her mind.
At that moment, the resentment radiating from her grew even heavier, and a pair of icy eyes locked fixedly onto Yao Yanyan.
Yao Yanyan ignored her hostile gaze, offering her a faint smile as she walked right past her front.
Xu Ke instinctively arched an eyebrow, sensing a hint of provocation hidden within Yao Yanyan's smile.
Gritting her teeth, she abruptly turned around and pressed both hands down onto Qin Luo's shoulders.
