Chapter 44: I’ll Take You to Meet Someone Mysterious
Qin Mo pushed Jiang Xue away with a hint of coldness upon hearing her words, looking straight at Jiang Li.
With a smile on his stern brows and eyes, Qin Mo looked at Jiang Li with a trace of grievance. "Jiang Li, what else do you want me to do? Right, here is the manuscript you wanted. Our bet is still valid."
Jiang Li took the folder and, looking at the man in front of her, raised her notebook. "President Qin, thank you for your generosity. I've accepted the notes. Chenchen should be arriving at the entrance soon; you can take the child with you. Thank you for the proposal and the documents. In any case, I will thoroughly investigate your father's car accident and give you a proper explanation."
After saying this, Jiang Li turned to Ji Han. "Ji Han, take the three auctioned items, and we should be heading back."
The broad-browed and big-eyed Ji Han nodded like a gentleman. While Lin Fan and Jiang Li went to fetch the items, Ji Han cast his handsome gaze toward Qin Mo.
With two handsome men standing together, the surrounding crowd erupted into screams.
"What do you want to say, Dr. Ji? Don't tell me you're the one who took Jiang Li's first time and left her alone at the hotel?" Qin Mo looked like a man glaring at his love rival.
Ji Han smiled faintly. He had thought it over: if he wanted to win Jiang Li and gain love, he had to take a brave step forward.
Just waiting around like this meant they might never have a chance.
Determined to move forward bravely, Ji Han replied, "President Qin is right, I am that man from that night, and I will take responsibility for my woman to the very end."
Qin Mo was completely baffled. "What do you mean?"
"Precisely what I said. It means that all your grievances with Jiang Li are now taken over by me, Ji Han. We shall settle our scores fair and square." With a roguish smile, Ji Han walked over to join Jiang Li.
Jiang Xue was beside herself with rage.
"Brother Qin Mo, what on earth does she mean? She's doing this on purpose! Isn't she—"
"Enough! Jiang Xue, go back."
"Huh?" Facing Qin Mo's words, Jiang Xue was utterly stunned.
"I said go back to the Jiang family. I will take Chenchen and leave shortly. Besides, I will give you another fifty million as compensation for bearing Chenchen for me. Other than that, it would be best if we never see each other again."
Jiang Xue was dumbfounded. Watching Qin Mo turn away resolutely, she stomped her feet in resentment. "What do you mean? Qin Mo, what is the meaning of this? Are you even denying me the right to see my own son?"
Without a word, Qin Mo walked straight out of the auction center.
Furious, Jiang Xue chased after him. "Chenchen is my child, and no one can take him away from me!"
As Jiang Xue spoke, Chenchen was helped out of a car by the Jiang family chauffeur.
Spotting Qin Mo, Chenchen spread open his arms. "Daddy! Chenchen is right here."
Seeing his son, Qin Mo rushed over and scooped him up into his arms, looking immensely relieved.
Yet, he glanced back as the Jiang family chauffeur waved at him and drove the car away.
Qin Mo felt a twinge of doubt. Jiang Li had depended solely on her mother since childhood and had absolutely no connection to the Jiang family.
Yet, after Youyou's accident, the mother and daughter had suddenly appeared in Jiangcheng, and his son had even been delivered by the Jiang family chauffeur. What was really going on behind the scenes?
Now, Ji Han claimed to be Jiang Li's first man. What exactly had happened after they parted ways that day?
Why, after sleeping with him, did Jiang Li end up marrying Chen Shaojie?
Just as Qin Mo was mulling over these questions, Jiang Xue ran up to them and reached out to hold Chenchen, causing the little fellow to scream in terror. "No! I want my pretty mommy, I don't want this mommy! Daddy, if you're going to marry her, just send me to an orphanage. Pretty mommy said everyone has the right to choose for themselves."
Rejected by little Chenchen, Jiang Xue's face turned pale and bruised with anger. Beside herself with fury, she stepped forward and slapped the little boy across the face, cursing without a shred of concealment, "A bastard is a bastard, an ungrateful wolf that can't be tamed!"
Seeing Jiang Xue's actions, Qin Mo's expression instantly turned icy. With a backhand motion, he slapped Jiang Xue straight across the face.
Holding his son tightly, Qin Mo angrily demanded, "Jiang Xue, are you even Chenchen's biological mother? Tomorrow, I am taking you to get a DNA paternity test!"
Realizing her own impulsiveness, Jiang Xue apologized with a trace of remorse, "I'm sorry, Chenchen, Mommy didn't mean it. Chenchen, you are Mommy's biological son, how could Mommy ever lay a hand on you? Truly, I was just too impulsive. Brother Qin Mo, give me another chance, I really didn't mean it."
Ignoring her pleas, Qin Mo held his son and walked straight away.
Jiang Li, who had just emerged behind them, took in the scene, shook her head, and prepared to leave, only for Jiang Xue to lunge at her like a rabid dog.
Ji Han, however, kicked Jiang Xue flying with a single strike.
Unreconciled, Jiang Xue shrieked, "Bitch! What did you say to that little bastard? You're not even his mother, why are you sowing discord?
Jiang Li, let me tell you, you will never win Qin Mo's forgiveness! Don't forget, you are his father's murderer, you betrayed your own romance, and someone like you will never find happiness."
Hearing Jiang Xue's words, Lin Fan stepped forward with a warning tone, "Miss Jiang, watch your language. Furthermore, if you continue to act like this, I will be forced to report this matter truthfully to the Chairman."
Jiang Xue's eyes widened instantly. If her actions jeopardized her inheritance rights, the loss would far outweigh any satisfaction!
With that thought in mind, Jiang Xue scrambled to her feet, hurried into her car, and sped away.
A headache throbbing and her mind in total disarray, Jiang Li found that Ji Han's appearance had acted like a stabilizing anchor, yet there were still too many things she could not comprehend. Her brain was spinning out of control into a tangled mess.
"I'm sorry, Dr. Ji, Senior Ji, thank you truly so much for your arrival. But right now, I honestly have no idea what I should do next. I'm currently like a headless fly, still unable to process everything concerning Youyou, so..."
"So don't let someone like Jiang Xue ruin your mood. I'm taking you to meet someone right now. Once you meet him, I believe you will be filled with strength, and you'll navigate the upcoming succession battle like a fish in water."
Hearing Ji Han say this, Jiang Li felt somewhat skeptical, especially since, for her right now, no one seemed like an immediate cure-all remedy.
Yet, she hesitated over whether or not she should trust Ji Han.
At that moment, Special Assistant Lin pulled his car directly up in front of them.
"Young Master Ji, Eldest Miss, where are you heading? Let me drive you."
Ji Han made a gentlemanly gesture of invitation, leaving Jiang Li with no choice but to get into the car, all the while wondering what kind of prominent figure Ji Han was going to introduce her to.
Could it be his grandmother? After all, Grandma Ji's insights were deeply philosophical; she truly was an extraordinary mentor.
"Senior Ji, should I buy something? Visiting a mentor empty-handed doesn't seem quite right, does it?"
Ji Han smiled faintly, shook his head, and gently reached out to stroke Jiang Li's hair.
That spring-breeze smile made Jiang Li's whole body tingle slightly.
Flashes of fragmented memories crossed her mind: Ji Han had nursed a secret crush on a girl, and in order to pursue her, he had even spent two years working at a hospital just for a glimpse of her.
Yet his smile was so healing, instantly sweeping away the oppressive gloom that had weighed upon Jiang Li these past few days.
"You don't need to bring a thing. As long as you stand before him, if he is well, you will be well too!"
Jiang Li grew even more perplexed. "Stop playing riddles, Senior Ji. Who on earth are you taking me to see? Is it Grandma Ji? After all, I experienced it firsthand this morning—Grandma Ji's philosophical arguments are truly formidable."
"No matter how formidable my grandmother's philosophy is, it cannot compare to the person I am taking you to see right now. That person only needs to utter two words, and you will experience a sudden, profound enlightenment, filling your entire being with strength."
Full of doubt, Jiang Li looked at Ji Han, who stood before her in a trench coat, radiating masculine charm. What kind of mysterious figure could possibly be that powerful?
