Chapter 50: Who Is the True Heir of the Jiang Family

Jiang Li watched Lawyer Ding stride onto the stage with the documents in hand, wearing an air of utter arrogance. A flicker of suspicion suddenly rose within her toward the man in gold-rimmed glasses.
The household servant who had drugged Grandpa was one of Jiang Jintao’s people.
If so, Jiang Jintao probably already knew that she was the eldest daughter of the Jiang family—including Jiang Xue.
Otherwise, they would never have stopped her at the entrance. But if they knew her true identity, why were they still so confident?
Could it be that Lawyer Ding had also been bought off by Jiang Jintao and the others? Were they certain that Grandpa would never wake up?
Just then, Ji Han arrived as well. “Don’t worry. Grandpa is here too, and the family doctor is looking after him.”
“Mm. Thank you.”
“You don’t have to be so polite with me. Do you also feel that there’s something wrong with Lawyer Ding?”
Jiang Li nodded. In the vast hall, everyone was watching Lawyer Ding onstage as he prepared to read from the documents.
“But you don’t need to worry. Lawyer Ding’s father hasn’t retired yet. Grandpa had him summoned too.”
Jiang Li stared at him in astonishment, her small pink face filled with confusion. “Could it be that there’s always someone greater than Lawyer Ding?”
Ji Han nodded. “Only a case of the higher the mountain, the taller the peak.”
Jiang Li gave him a thumbs-up, but then felt a small hand tugging at her clothes.
She lowered her head. It was Chenchen.
“Mommy!”
Chenchen’s soft, childish voice made Jiang Li burst into tears. “Chenchen, thank you for being willing to call me Mommy. I truly never imagined that you were really my son. It seems our feelings were right after all.”
“Mm-hmm. Chenchen is the son of his beautiful mommy, and Chenchen is happy too. But Mommy, are you going to marry this Uncle Ji? You don’t want me and Daddy anymore, do you?”
Jiang Li awkwardly wiped away her tears. “Be good, Chenchen. Mommy can’t forgive your father, so…”
“Mommy, Chenchen understands. It was Daddy’s fault. He actually mistook the person he loved most for someone else, and he even wronged you.”

“I know everything. Daddy said I’m already a little man, so he told me everything. Mommy, Chenchen supports you. Daddy also said he would respect your choice.”
Jiang Li stroked Chenchen’s cheek and pulled him into her arms.
“Thank you, sweetheart. In a little while, you’ll be able to see your big sister.”
“Big sister? Mommy, is that true? She didn’t die—she’s still alive, isn’t she?”
Jiang Li nodded. “Yes. Youyou didn’t die. She’s very healthy, so from now on, you and Youyou can go to school and play together.”
“Mm-hmm. That’s wonderful! Thank you, Mommy. Can the four of us stay together forever from now on?”
Jiang Li said nothing. Children were naturally romantic. Only moments ago, Chenchen had said he would respect her choice, and now he was already imagining the four of them together. Jiang Li did not know how to respond.
At that moment, Lawyer Ding’s voice rang out from the stage.
“Good morning, everyone. Entrusted by Chairman Jiang Zhenting, I will now announce the names of the heirs. I hope everyone will continue to support the next heir of the Jiang family as always. I will now read aloud the Jiang family’s inheritance regulations, as well as a list of the assets under the Jiang family’s control.”
Hearing this, Jiang Jintao straightened his back and waited for the lawyer to continue.
Jiang Xue was even more smug as she walked over to Jiang Li.
“Cousin, do you see this? My father’s moment of glory is about to arrive. I’m the daughter of the richest man in River City—the eldest daughter of the Jiang family. As for your plans to become Mrs. Ji, I’m afraid that won’t happen. After all, Chen Shaojie is here too. What will you do if your ex-husband refuses to divorce you?”
Hearing the sarcasm in Jiang Xue’s voice, Jiang Li gave a cold laugh. “The winner hasn’t been decided yet. Some people would do well not to be so confident.”
Jiang Li had barely finished speaking when Jiang Xue leaned closer, her voice vicious.
“Stop dreaming, Jiang Li. Do you really think you’re the Jiang family’s illegitimate daughter? Let me tell you something—even if you are, you still can’t inherit the property. That old man is dead, and with no one left to testify, my father, my brother, and I are the true heirs.”
Jiang Li narrowed her eyes, a dangerous glint flashing within them. “So you knew about it long ago. But Jiang Xue, who gave you the confidence to think you could buy off Lawyer Ding?”
Jiang Xue folded her arms. “Stop dreaming. If something doesn’t belong to you, you’ll never get it no matter how badly you want it. Let me tell you—the entire Jiang Corporation belongs to me.”
Just then, Lawyer Ding read aloud, “To summarize, the total value of all assets is forty-six point five billion. I now announce that all jewelry and real estate under the Jiang Corporation will be inherited by Mr. Jiang Jintao and his children.”
The moment they heard this, everyone froze. A murmur immediately swept through the crowd.
Jiang Xue, however, clapped delightedly. With a triumphant look, she turned to Qin Mu.
“President Qin, did you hear that? My father, my brother, and I are the true heirs of the corporation. The assets under our names total forty-six point five billion. Are you still going to put on airs and claim you won’t marry me?”

Qin Mu let out a cold laugh.
He looked at Jiang Xue with undisguised contempt. “That’s hilarious. Do you think I don’t like you because you have no money? My Qin family is a genuine wealthy family. What are you supposed to be?
“Let me tell you why I don’t like you. It’s because you have no character, and because you are completely unworthy of being Chenchen’s mother.”
“You—Qin Mu, what do you mean?” Jiang Xue glared at him, her eyes blazing with anger.
“What do I mean? I’ve already found the mechanic you hired to tamper with my father’s car. Do you still think you can become the heir of the Jiang Corporation?”
Jiang Xue snorted. “So what? It happened so many years ago. I don’t believe you can still produce any evidence. Just because he says I did it doesn’t mean I did it.
“Qin Mu, don’t slander me. Don’t think you can win Jiang Li back. She isn’t even divorced from her ex-husband, yet she’s still entangled with you—and now she’s seducing Ji Han as well.”
Jiang Li smiled faintly. “You have no right to judge what kind of person I am. Jiang Xue, you were never pregnant back then. Chenchen is my son. Do you remember how you exchanged your stillborn child for him? Someone like you deserves to go to hell!”
Jiang Li’s words left Jiang Xue stunned. Then she burst into mocking laughter.
“Hahaha! So you know about all that now?
“Whether you know or not makes no difference. Your daughter saved your son, so you didn’t lose out. As for that little bastard, he’ll always be an ungrateful wolf.”
“Smack!”
Unable to bear it any longer, Jiang Li slapped Jiang Xue across the face.
“That’s enough! You deserve to be slapped for speaking about my child. Jiang Xue, you did all of this. Don’t you think someone like you is unworthy of inheriting the Jiang Corporation?”
Jiang Xue covered her cheek and laughed even more wildly. “Whether I’m worthy or not isn’t for you to decide. The lawyer has finished reading the will. I am the eldest daughter of the Jiang family.”
“Is that so? Lawyer Ding, are you certain that the list of heirs you read was the one I gave you?”
At that moment, a deep, resonant voice rang out.
The crowd below, which had been whispering among themselves, turned toward the sound. They saw Jiang Zhenting being pushed forward in a wheelchair by Xie Yun.
