Volume One, Chapter 11: Let Me Help Her Unravel? Aren't You the Perfect Remedy?
“You’re not being honest.”
Tang Ruan: ...
She could explain.
The blonde woman, in a good mood, waved her hand. “Take her inside.”
Tang Ruan was led into a room next to the living room.
Judging by the decor, it was a guest room.
There was a small window on the wall. Arthur took Tang Ruan to the window; through it, one could clearly see the entire living room.
Tang Ruan recalled the corresponding spot in the living room... there seemed to be a painting hanging there.
Living Room
As a tall, slender figure appeared, the blonde woman’s smile grew even brighter, but Tang Ruan felt as if struck by lightning.
This person, this profile—
She kept her eyes wide open, not daring to blink, afraid she was hallucinating.
The TG CEO—it was him!
“Gu, you look even more handsome with a mask on.”
The blonde woman scrutinized the newcomer, confidently concluding, “You care about her.”
Having known Gu Yu for years, this was the first time she had seen him so out of sorts.
He was even... flustered.
“Countess Katie, let her go.”
Countess Katie rose from her chair, approached Gu Yu, and reached out slender, delicate fingers toward his chest—
Gu Yu shifted his body to the side, avoiding her touch.
“Please respect yourself.”
Countess Katie was not offended. She casually brushed her golden hair aside. “Gu, I can let her go.”
“But what I said before—shouldn’t you reconsider?”
Gu Yu turned to look at her.
Countess Katie smiled confidently and unhurriedly at him.
After a moment, she heard a satisfactory reply.
“All right.”
The answer came too quickly, and Countess Katie felt inexplicably regretful.
Had she known it was this easy to get Gu Yu to agree, she would have gone to China to kidnap her sooner, rather than wasting so many years.
“Gu, here’s to a pleasant collaboration.”
Gu Yu said nothing, not even a glance toward Countess Katie.
She observed his expression quietly, plotting.
She took out her phone and sent a text message, looking mysteriously at Gu Yu. “Gu, I’m sending you a gift.”
Gu Yu furrowed his brow, feeling an ominous premonition.
Ten minutes later
Countess Katie brought Gu Yu to the guest room door and lifted her chin. “She’s inside. You go in and take her away.”
Gu Yu reached out but stopped just before touching the door handle.
“What’s wrong, Gu? Don’t want to see her?”
Gu Yu twisted the handle and pushed the door open.
The room was very dark; the curtains must have been drawn.
Gu Yu glanced back at Countess Katie. She smiled without changing her expression and explained calmly, “She must be tired, so she’s lying down resting.”
“Oh, right, the curtains are drawn.”
Gu Yu: ...
Not wanting to waste words with Countess Katie, he strode into the room.
“Click—”
The door closed behind him and was locked.
He fumbled for the light switch and pressed it—
But nothing happened; the room remained pitch-black.
Outside the room
Countess Katie smiled like a Persian cat that had successfully stolen fish.
Gu, enjoy the gift I gave you.
Gu Yu gritted his teeth, silently cursing his carelessness.
He cleared his throat and called out, “Miss Tang?”
The next moment, a warm body pressed against him, a faint cool floral scent wafting to his nose.
It was the scent of peaches.
Gu Yu froze instantly.
Then, unexpectedly, his body began to respond.
He bit his lip, trying to think clearly.
“Tang, Miss Tang, stay awake.”
His words had no effect.
Two soft arms wrapped around his neck; warm breath was close, brushing his neck and jaw—a scent unique to her.
“You smell so good.”
Boom—
The dam he had built in his mind collapsed.
His collar was grabbed, and like a puppet without resistance, he was pressed onto the bed.
“Ruan Ruan...”
Suddenly, his lips hurt.
He had been bitten.
Gu Yu snapped back to clarity, cursing himself as a beast in his heart. His hand slowly moved to the back of Tang Ruan’s neck; with one chop,
he opened his arms and caught her delicate body.
His eyes, concealed in the dark, softened once again.
“Countess Katie, turn on the light, or don’t blame me for changing my mind.”
“Click—”
The room brightened.
Gu Yu looked at Tang Ruan in his arms, his Adam’s apple moving up and down.
He took a deep breath, suppressing the pounding of his heart. He tidied her disheveled clothes and then, as if holding a fragile treasure, carried her toward the door.
“Open the door.”
The door was pushed open from outside.
Countess Katie gave him an awkward smile. “Gu, I only thought about your adult pleasures in China...”
Gu Yu paused for a moment but did not linger any longer.
“Thanks, but no thanks.”
He wouldn’t take Tang Ruan under such circumstances; it wouldn’t be fair to her.
Countess Katie followed him out to remind him, “Gu, she’s been drugged.”
Gu Yu didn’t stop walking. He placed Tang Ruan in the car and went around to the other side to get in.
“President.”
“To the company.”
The car entered the underground garage of the TG building but did not stop on the first basement level. Instead, it drove to a secluded corner on the lower basement level.
Secretary Chen pressed a remote control, and a door in the corner slowly rose.
Inside was a descending passageway.
After the car stopped, a young Chinese man wearing a floral shirt and slippers approached. “Gu Yu, not sleeping at night and coming to me—”
His words stopped abruptly when he saw the face of the person in Gu Yu’s arms.
He pointed at Gu Yu, then at Tang Ruan, and all his words condensed into a thumbs-up.
“You’re awesome, Gu Yu.”
“She’s been drugged; help detoxify her.”
The man glanced at Tang Ruan’s alluring face and clicked his tongue. “Want me to help detoxify her? Aren’t you the perfect antidote?”
Not using the perfect antidote, insisting on dragging her here for an injection.
Tsk! Such a show-off.
Gu Yu shot him a glance.
“All right! I’ll detoxify her.”
The man instructed Gu Yu, “Put her on the bed; I’ll prepare everything.”
A few minutes later, the injection was administered into Tang Ruan’s body. Her temperature slowly returned to normal, and her face was less flushed.
“In another half hour, the drug’s effects will be completely gone.”
“Mm.”
The man held back his impatience for a while but couldn’t help himself. “Honestly, Gu Yu, what were you thinking? Showing your face in front of her at such a critical moment—couldn’t you wait a little longer?”
Gu Yu’s mask had been pulled off by the drugged Tang Ruan in the guest room.
Now, there was a shallow scratch on his chin.
Gu Yu: “She didn’t see my face.”
The man was frustrated beyond measure. “Is it just about seeing your face or not?”
“She was so close to you before... How do you know she wouldn’t recognize you even without seeing your face?”
“We’ve waited so many years, and success is just around the corner. Why can’t you keep your cool?”
He took a breath. “Once we return openly to China, not only can you see her, you can chase after her every day!”
“Gu Yu, are you listening to me?”
Gu Yu lifted his gaze, his eyes bloodshot.
The man was stunned.
“Li Song, I just miss her too much.”
Thinking of waking from nightmares every midnight.
Thinking of the despicable means of forcing her to come to Y country through card cooperation.
Li Song sighed helplessly and turned away. “Don’t let it happen again.”
“Send her away before she wakes up. Until things are settled, she must not know your true identity.”
“Mm.”
