After dinner, Xu Hong’s family returned to the Xu residence. Seeing Xu Fang and her daughter chatting with Mrs. Xu, they joined in.
In truth, their family lived in Xiuwen, not far away, and came over often. They had little to talk about with Mrs. Xu.
But now that Xu Fang’s family had fallen on hard times, they wanted to take the opportunity to regain some of their lost pride.
As for the luxury car Mo Han had driven earlier, they firmly believed he had rented it.

Wu Wan had personally brought Xu Jie here to meet them. Even if Xu Fang were a complete fool, she could tell that Wu Wan had come to show off.
“Hello, Second Aunt. By the way, I heard that Brother-in-law Mo Han came too. Where is he?” Xu Jie asked when he did not see Mo Han.
“He went out to take care of something,” Li An’an replied.
“Oh, you must be the cousin An’an Wu Wan mentioned. By the way, Aunt Hong said I should arrange a job for Brother-in-law Mo Han. I wanted to see what kind of work would suit him.” Xu Jie smiled.
Li An’an sneered inwardly. If he truly wanted to help, pigs might as well fly.
“Oh, there’s no need. But thank you for the offer. Mo Han doesn’t need a job; the work he has now is perfectly good.” Li An’an disliked the way Xu Jie looked at her. Although he hid it well, how could he fool someone like her, who dealt with clients every day?
“An’an, doesn’t Mo Han just work as a security guard? What future is there in being a guard? He earns only two or three thousand a month. Even in our little county town of Xiuwen, that wouldn’t be enough to buy a single square meter of an apartment. If he really has ability, my Xu Jie could arrange a management position for him.” Wu Wan smiled.
“There’s really no need. He won’t be staying in Xiuwen anyway.” Li An’an rejected her outright.
Her mother and Mo Han had only been putting on an act before, yet these people had actually taken it seriously. She was at a loss for words.
“An’an, Xu Jie’s company earns more than a million a month. That’s enough to buy an apartment every month. Even if Mo Han worked as a security guard for the rest of his life, he’d never be able to afford one, would he?” Wu Wan boasted.
“That’s right, An’an. Xu Jie even bought us an apartment—one million yuan in cash, with three bedrooms and a living room. It’s the finest apartment in Xiuwen. Come, I’ll take you to see it now.” Xu Hong spoke proudly.
“Forget it. It’s already so late.” Li An’an sounded somewhat awkward. She knew perfectly well that her aunt’s family wanted to show off, but Xu Hong was being so enthusiastic that she found it difficult to refuse.
“Come on, come on. There’s nothing to do at home anyway. We might as well go out for a walk,” Xu Hong urged warmly.
“All right, An’an. Let’s go have a look.” Xu Fang turned to Li An’an. She was also curious to see what sort of apartment Xu Hong’s family had bought.
After all, her own family now lived in the finest villa in Qian City.

“All right, then. Grandma, we’re going to see Aunt’s new apartment,” Li An’an told her grandmother.
“Go on, then. Enjoy yourselves,” Mrs. Xu said with a nod. She was old now and could no longer walk very far.
A pleased look appeared on Xu Hong and Wu Wan’s faces. Soon, they would have the perfect opportunity to show off in front of Xu Fang and her daughter.
They were determined to make them understand that the era when their family held the upper hand was over. Now it was their family’s turn to dominate.
Xu Hong’s family took Xu Fang and her daughter to see their new home. To be honest, the apartment was extremely ordinary. Compared with their large villa, it was practically worthless.
But Xu Fang did not want to humiliate them just yet, so she pretended to look envious.
Li An’an, meanwhile, acted as though nothing were unusual.
She was not as calculating as her mother and felt there was no need to embarrass Xu Hong’s family too badly. Otherwise, they might not even be able to remain relatives in the future.
She had always been easygoing and generally avoided completely ruining a relationship.
They were family, after all.
There was no need for that.
“Second Sister, if I remember correctly, you’re still living in the old Li family residence, aren’t you? When are you planning to move?” Xu Hong asked with a smile.
“Our family has bought a place too. It’s being renovated now, and we’ll be moving in after a while. We’ll invite you over for a housewarming feast,” Xu Fang replied with a smile.
Li An’an glanced at her mother, speechless.
She was about to say something when Xu Fang winked at her. Li An’an shook her head and decided not to interfere.
Still, she felt a little curious. If her mother really held a housewarming feast, and Xu Hong’s family actually attended, she wondered what their expressions would look like.
Li An’an quickly shook her head again. Spending so much time with Mo Han lately seemed to be making her a little wicked.
“Of course we’ll come,” Xu Hong said with a smile. She turned to Li An’an. “An’an, how is your job these days?”
“An’an still works at the Li Pharmaceutical Factory. She’s the sales director,” Xu Fang cut in before Li An’an could answer.
“Oh, a director? Then your salary must be very high, right?” Xu Hong asked in surprise.
She thought that if Li An’an really was the sales director, then the tens of thousands of yuan Mo Han had produced earlier might indeed have been money Li An’an had saved over the past year.

But how could a mere sales director compare with her son-in-law?
Her son-in-law owned a company.
Thinking of this, her sense of superiority grew even stronger.
“It’s all right.” Li An’an did not want to show off, so she answered with a faint smile.
Just as they reached the entrance of the residential complex, they saw Mo Han walking toward them.
After receiving Li An’an’s call earlier, Mo Han had come to find them.
“Mo Han, you’re here! Come on, Auntie will take you upstairs to see my new apartment.” The moment Xu Hong saw him, she took him by the arm and led him inside.
Mo Han could only laugh helplessly. Li An’an was equally at a loss for words, and once again they had no choice but to follow him into the complex.
“Mo Han, this is the apartment Xu Jie bought for us. What do you think? The renovations will begin in a few days. When we move in, you and An’an must come,” Xu Hong said with a smile.
Mo Han looked over the apartment’s layout. It had three bedrooms and a living room and was on the seventh floor. For an ordinary family, it was indeed quite good.
He understood perfectly well that Xu Hong’s family wanted to show off, so he indulged them and offered several words of praise.
Hearing Mo Han repeatedly nod and praise the apartment, his face full of admiration, Xu Hong, Wu Wan, and Xu Jie all looked extremely pleased.
They enjoyed being envied by others.
Especially in front of Xu Fang’s family.
Whenever Xu Fang had returned in the past, she had never failed to show off in front of them.
After they left the complex, Wu Wan said, “Cousin An’an, why don’t we go browse the shopping mall? The malls here don’t close until after ten.”
Now that Mo Han had arrived, Wu Wan suddenly came up with an idea. She planned to make Li An’an and Mo Han feel inferior to her and Xu Jie once again.
“Forget it. It’s late, and there’s nothing I need to buy.” Li An’an shook her head. She genuinely did not want to go shopping.
“What woman doesn’t like shopping? Cousin An’an, are you afraid Mo Han can’t afford to buy you anything? Are you worried he’ll embarrass himself, so you don’t dare go?” Wu Wan said with a provocative smile.
Li An’an frowned. Wu Wan’s bluntness made her uncomfortable. They were cousins and relatives, after all. Why did she have to show off at every opportunity?
