Chapter 160: Mr. Mo!
“Liu Changqing, your wife is being openly insulted for being an imbecile, and you still won’t step in to help?” the woman snapped at the man.
The man approached, his face dark with anger as he glared at Mo Han. “Kid, watch your mouth. One phone call from me, and your daughter won’t be able to attend school anymore.”
Mo Han glanced at the man called Liu Changqing and smiled. “I don’t believe it.”
“Listen carefully. My husband works at the Education Bureau. I heard you’re just a security guard, a useless nobody. How dare you insult me today? You’re in deep trouble. Your daughter will not only be expelled, but she won’t be allowed to study anywhere in Qian City!” The woman looked at Mo Han arrogantly, her eyes filled with disdain.
The Education Bureau?
Mo Han sneered coldly, not taking the threat seriously at all.
He regarded such small fry as unworthy of even a glance.
“If you know what’s good for you, get down on your knees and apologize to me, or your daughter will never set foot in a school again!” The woman was brazen and haughty.
Li Xiao was visibly unsett, sensing that Liu Changqing might have some connections or real influence at the Education Bureau. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so audacious. She was about to step forward to apologize, hoping to smooth things over.
Mo Han waved her off and smiled. “Have you forgotten who I am? A mere ant like you at the Education Bureau isn’t worthy of my apology.”
Even without his official titles, as the chief instructor of the Combat Department, he wouldn’t give a damn about their words.
Li Xiao paused, then quickly understood. Given her husband’s status as chief instructor, there was no need to fear such threats.
She nodded, no longer taking them seriously.
Glancing at them once more, she held Xiao Xiao’s hand and prepared to leave, dismissive of their presence.
Mo Han, too, ignored them and walked forward with his wife and daughter.
“Useless scum, I’m telling you, this isn’t over!” The woman’s anger grew as they ignored her.
The more Mo Han’s family disregarded her, the more furious she became.
This was an outright humiliation!
“Hmph, a mere security guard dares to be so arrogant? Just wait, tomorrow I’ll make sure Li Xiao Xiao can’t study in Qian City anymore,” Liu Changqing sneered coldly.
“Do you think my husband’s bluffing?” The woman, unwilling to concede, shouted after them, “My husband’s uncle is the deputy director of the Education Bureau. Do you think we’re joking?”
Unfortunately, Mo Han and his family didn’t respond, which only made her stomp her feet in frustration.
Just as Liu Changqing and his wife were fuming, a couple with a little girl approached.
“Zhou Yan, what are you standing there for? I heard superstar Yun Feifei is holding a promo event at the plaza ahead. This is the perfect chance to get her autograph,” a young woman urged Liu Changqing’s wife.
“Really? Let’s go, let’s go! Take us there.” Zhou Yan, a fan of Zuo Mingyue, loved her songs, and her face lit up with excitement, forgetting the earlier conflict with Mo Han.
Liu Changqing shot a dark look at Mo Han’s retreating figure, then followed his wife and daughter toward the plaza.
“Yun Feifei is doing a promo here today. Let’s go check it out,” Li An’an tugged at Mo Han’s hand.
“Isn’t she back yet?” Mo Han asked calmly.
He knew Yun Feifei was part of the Mo family and had stayed in Qian City, which unsettled him somewhat.
He suspected Yun Feifei might be up to something.
“You really are forgetful,” Li An’an rolled her eyes and explained, “We just signed a contract with her as our brand ambassador. Today’s event is to promote our company’s new medicine.”
Mo Han was surprised. “I didn’t know that. I’ve been at the hospital with Xiao Xiao lately.”
Li An’an nodded, realizing she had misjudged him and felt a bit embarrassed.
Mo Han smiled. “Alright, let’s go see.”
Soon, they arrived at the promo site.
A tall stage stood at the center of the plaza, with a crystal-clear giant screen displaying a promotional photo of Yun Feifei alongside the pharmaceutical company’s new drug.
Staff members busied themselves on the stage.
Behind the stage was a temporary dressing room where the performers were likely still getting ready.
“That’s really Yun Feifei!” Zhou Yan exclaimed, gazing at the poster on the big screen.
“Yes. She held a charity concert last time, but I was on a business trip. Otherwise, I would have gone,” Zhou Yan’s friend Li Fang said with regret.
Both were avid fans, their excitement palpable whenever they spoke of their idol.
At that moment, Mo Han and his family arrived.
Seeing Mo Han, Zhou Yan snorted disdainfully.
“Zhou Yan, do you have some grudge against him?” Li Fang eyed Mo Han curiously.
“Hmph, a useless freeloader who dares to call me an imbecile? It infuriates me, but mark my words, tomorrow he’ll be begging me on his knees,” Zhou Yan said confidently.
“Freeloader?” Li Fang glanced at Mo Han and laughed. “You mean the famous son-in-law of the Li family here in Qian City?”
Her husband sneered at Mo Han as well.
The Li family’s son-in-law was well-known throughout the city.
In Qian City, it was rare to have a son-in-law living in with his wife’s family; everyone treated it as gossip fodder.
No one respected such men.
“Who else but that useless guy?” Zhou Yan scoffed.
“Hey buddy, how does it feel to live off your wife?” Li Fang’s husband, Xu Hua, mocked Mo Han.
“For some spineless loser, it must be great—just sitting back and letting others provide everything,” Liu Changqing sneered sarcastically.
The crowd erupted in laughter, pointing and whispering behind Mo Han’s back.
“So that’s the infamous son-in-law who made waves in Qian City.”
“Who would’ve thought? He looks so handsome, yet he’s lost all dignity to become a son-in-law. I thought he was disabled or something.”
“Exactly. A good man wouldn’t do this, but he chose the easy way out. If his ancestors knew, their graves would be rattling.”
Voices full of contempt and ridicule surrounded Mo Han.
Li An’an’s face flushed with embarrassment. She wished they had never come.
Mo Han glanced at the crowd indifferently. He had heard such mockery countless times and was long numb to it. He had no intention of arguing.
Just as he was about to bypass the crowd and head to the VIP area, a sudden commotion broke out ahead.
“The idol’s coming! The idol’s coming!”
“Feifei, I’m your biggest fan! Sign my autograph!”
“Feifei, we love you!”
Young people shouted excitedly, phones and cameras clicking nonstop.
Li Fang and Zhou Yan were equally excited, pulling out their phones to snap pictures and ready themselves to get Yun Feifei’s autograph.
Mo Han turned his head to see Yun Feifei approaching under the protection of staff.
Today, Yun Feifei wore a pure white gown, a blue crystal necklace resting perfectly in the deep V neckline of her fair dress, exuding charm.
Her makeup was flawless, her hair styled elegantly, her face nearly perfect—beautiful and alluring.
Countless male fans couldn’t help but lick their lips in admiration.
Suddenly, while signing autographs, Yun Feifei’s eyes caught sight of Mo Han nearby.
Her hand froze mid-signature.
She tossed the pen to a staff member and walked swiftly over to Mo Han.
Everyone was stunned, unsure what was happening.
They quickly parted, following Yun Feifei’s movement with their gaze.
“Oh my god, the superstar is coming over to me?” Li Fang gasped, covering her mouth in disbelief.
“She really is coming to us! I’m several years older than her, but my heart feels like it’s about to leap out. I’m so excited!” Zhou Yan was overwhelmed.
Liu Changqing and Xu Hua exchanged glances, both equally incredulous.
“Changqing, aren’t you a senior official at the Education Bureau? Could Yun Feifei be coming over to greet you?” Xu Hua asked, eyes full of envy.
He wasn’t a fan, but for a superstar like Yun Feifei, he’d dream of meeting her.
Suddenly, he envied Liu Changqing. Damn, being a public official had its perks—power and influence could even make a top star fawn over you.
“It must be. Our Changqing is amazing. While others are fangirling, the big stars come running to him,” Zhou Yan said proudly.
In that moment, her feelings shifted.
Her husband was so impressive; why chase after stars?
She tidied her hair excitedly, linked arms with Liu Changqing, reined in her excitement, held her head high, and prepared to receive the star’s flattery with the poise of a queen.
“Zhou Yan, make sure you get me a few signed photos later,” Li Fang said admiringly.
“Don’t worry. One word from me, and Yun Feifei will sign a hundred photos for you. Even a selfie is no problem,” Zhou Yan replied grandly.
The crowd looked on enviously, each hoping to curry favor with the couple to snag some autographs.
Basking in their envious stares, Liu Changqing began to believe it himself.
No matter how famous Yun Feifei was, he was a high-ranking public official.
Of course, an actress had to cozy up to him.
With that thought, Liu Changqing straightened his collar, cleared his throat, and said seriously, “Everyone, quiet down. I work at the Education Bureau. I will discuss with Feifei later and try to fulfill everyone’s requests today…”
“Long live Director Liu!”
“Director Liu, you’re amazing!”
“Director Liu, I love you!”
The crowd cheered loudly.
Liu Changqing and his wife beamed with pride, striding confidently toward Yun Feifei.
“Feifei, you’re here to see me, right?” Liu Changqing said seriously, his wife Zhou Yan equally proud, holding his arm.
Yun Feifei paused, furrowing her delicate brows. “Who are you? Please step aside.”
Huh?
Liu Changqing froze, and the crowd was stunned.
Something about this wasn’t right.
“My husband is a senior official at the Education Bureau…” Zhou Yan proudly introduced him.
“Sorry, I don’t know you,” Yun Feifei replied curtly, glanced at them, and bypassed the couple to approach Mo Han instead.
She lowered her head, bowed slightly, and spoke respectfully:
“Mr. Mo!”
