Chapter 24: Taking the Blame
When Li Anan arrived at the company, she found the conference room already filled with the senior members of the Li family.
“Anan, you’re here. Take a seat,” the old man said, glancing at her.
Li Anan nodded and took her place.
“Since everyone is here, let’s begin,” Li Zhentong announced, his eyes sweeping the room before settling on Li Anan. “I’ll get straight to the point. The recent incident at our company is extremely serious. If we don’t handle it well, it could mean ruin for our entire family.”
He looked around, finally fixing his gaze on Li Anan. “Anan, your father was in charge of the Li Pharmaceutical Plant. Now that there’s been a case of drug poisoning, your family must bear the main responsibility.” His tone left no room for debate.
Li Anan’s heart jolted with indignation. “Grandfather, the plant used to be under my father’s management, but after that drinking incident a year ago, you took it away from him and gave it to Uncle. Besides, the problematic drug is a recent product—what does it have to do with us?”
Her mood was dark. Her family had suffered so much in the past few days, yet no one from the family had shown any concern, not even when her own daughter had gone missing. And today, the old man intended to make her family take the blame.
What kind of world was this?
“Grandfather, my father is nothing more than a figurehead in the company now. He hasn’t had any real involvement for a long time. You can’t expect us to shoulder this burden,” Li Anan said firmly.
