Chapter 36: Mo Han’s Words Are My Own
The Sakura Society is the largest underground organization in Qian City, a formidable force that even the three major families dare not provoke. Many people have heard of Tiger Yu; he runs a casino, two nightclubs, a bathhouse, and commands a hundred men ready to answer his call. Ruthless and cruel, he is the undisputed kingpin of Baiyun District, feared by all.
If Tiger Yu were to intervene on Yu Bing’s behalf, the consequences would be unimaginable. They had countless ways to ensure the pharmaceutical factory could not operate.
Li Anan’s expression changed drastically as she looked at Yu Bing, hesitation finally creeping into her heart. As a native of Baiyun District, she knew all too well what sort of man Tiger Yu was. Not only was she, a young woman without any backing, no match for him—even her grandfather would not dare cross Tiger Yu.
Of course, those in the underground world have their own principles: if you don’t provoke them, they will not trouble you. But today, having dismissed Yu Bing, it was uncertain whether Tiger Yu would stand up for him.
As Li Anan’s face grew darker and fear flickered in her eyes, Yu Bing and his companions thought she was sure to give in. After all, if she fired them, the factory would not be able to function. If Li Anan had any sense, she would not go through with it. Not only should she keep them, she ought to placate them.
In their eyes, a boss without any foundation amounted to nothing.
Indeed, even Yu Bing, the security manager, drove a thirty-thousand-dollar Honda, and Wu Tao drove a fifty-thousand-dollar Audi. Li Anan, the owner, drove only a ten-thousand-dollar old Volkswagen. It was no surprise these men looked down on her.
Moreover, these managers were no fools. Li Anan was merely a scapegoat chosen by the Li family. What other qualifications did she have to become the factory’s owner?
“President Li, if you retract your earlier words, we can all get along, develop the company together, and make money,” Wu Tao said with a faint smile, his tone unmistakably threatening. “But if you insist on your course, the outcome will be mutual destruction.”
“That’s right. If we leave, the company will have no customers. Even if you quickly hire replacements, can you secure business in such a short time?” the sales director chimed in.
“President Li, think carefully. The negative impact of this drug poisoning incident is not something you can fix. Without us veterans, those clients won’t continue their orders,” another added.
One after another, they offered Li Anan a way out, yet made it clear they didn’t respect her in the slightest.
It was easy to imagine that once Li Anan conceded today, she would lose all authority in the eyes of her employees. A boss without authority—could such a person lead the company to a bright future?
At that moment, Li Anan’s face was ashen. Anger surged within her; she longed to throw Wu Tao and his cohorts out of the company immediately. Yet she dared not act rashly.
She gritted her teeth, about to yield, when Mo Han sneered, “Get out. Don’t think too highly of yourselves. The world turns with or without humanity—the company will run just fine without you.”
“Mo Han, are you sure you have the authority to make that call?” Wu Tao mocked, doubting Li Anan would risk everything for a man they all regarded as a freeloader.
Seeing Mo Han’s confidence, Li Anan clenched her teeth and said, “Mo Han speaks for me. Here’s your opportunity—leave now, and I won’t pursue your past actions. Otherwise, I’ll have no choice but to hand you over to the police.”
Wu Tao and the others were stunned; they never expected Li Anan to be so assertive. Who gave her such confidence?
“President Li, are you sure you want to ignore my cousin Tiger Yu?” Yu Bing’s eyes flashed dangerously, threatening once more.
“Isn’t the underworld built on force? Let him come for me—I’d like to see what your cousin can do,” Mo Han replied disdainfully.
“Idiot, itching for a beating? If you want trouble so badly, let me teach you a lesson!” Yu Bing, quick-tempered as always, strode forward and slapped Mo Han hard across the face.
The lines had been crossed; he might as well vent his anger on Mo Han and add more pressure on Li Anan.
“Courting death!” Mo Han snorted coldly, grabbed Yu Bing’s hand, and twisted it forcefully.
A sharp crack echoed in the room, sending a chill through everyone present. Yu Bing howled like a wounded animal.
Mo Han released his grip and struck Yu Bing’s chest with his palm. The man, weighing over one hundred eighty pounds, was sent flying, crashing against the wall with a loud thud. As he hit the floor, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
A collective gasp swept the room; disbelief filled their eyes.
Yu Bing was said to be a retired soldier from a field unit, known for his fighting skills. Yet Mo Han had snapped his arm and made him cough blood with a single blow.
Wasn’t Mo Han supposed to be a useless freeloader? How could he be so forceful?
Wu Tao, in particular, recalled the slap Mo Han had given him earlier and felt a pang of fear. This man was a lunatic—he had dared to break Qin Haoran’s hand. Wu Tao worried Mo Han might come after him next.
He was already considering retreat. Though he had failed to steal the formula for the Rejuvenation Pill and could not report back, he feared that if he kept making trouble, Mo Han would cripple him.
Just then, the conference room door swung open and a woman in professional attire entered.
Ma Jiaojiao, recently promoted by Lin Xiaoman to assistant that morning, had been handling other matters and missed the meeting.
“President Li, the purchasing director from Dongjia Group wishes to see you. He says their company plans to place an order of at least one hundred million for the Rejuvenation Pill,” Ma Jiaojiao announced.
Had the order not been so crucial for the company, Ma Jiaojiao would never have dared to barge in so abruptly.
