“Today is Dad’s birthday—let’s go out for dinner tonight,” Mo Han suggested.

“Sure! Where should we go?” Li An’an responded with a smile.

“Jadeite 36. I heard it’s owned by the Chen family,” Mo Han replied.

“Jadeite 36 is too expensive; any regular restaurant will do,” Li Xiande shook his head.

Of course, he knew about Jadeite 36—it was the most upscale restaurant in Qiancheng. Private rooms there had no upper spending limit, and it wasn’t unusual for a single meal to cost hundreds of thousands.

“Dad, it’s fine—I have money,” Mo Han said.

He’d just made twelve million off Xu Biao a couple of days ago; a meal was nothing to him.

“Where did you get that money? The company needs funds right now. We should economize,” Xu Fang interjected.

“Dad, Mom, don’t worry. It’s just one meal. Besides, the company just landed a hundred-million order from Dongjia Group a few days ago. They already wired the full two hundred million to our company’s account. Our family is doing well now,” Li An’an added.

“Really? Our family is thriving!” Xu Fang exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

The pharmaceutical factory had originally been forced onto their family by the Li clan, who were looking for a scapegoat. After many twists and turns, it finally landed in their hands.

Who would have thought her daughter would actually turn it around?

“Yes, and the Rejuvenation Pill that Mo Han developed is hugely popular. Just yesterday, Li Shujie himself came to inspect,” Li An’an said, a little excitement creeping into her voice as well.

Li Shujie was a top leader in Qiancheng. How many companies could boast of a personal inspection from someone like that? It was a mark of honor.

“Wow, that Rejuvenation Pill really is incredible,” Xu Fang said, gazing at Mo Han with affection.

Li Xiande was a little moved as well. He’d managed the factory for years, but not even a minor director had ever come to inspect, let alone Li Shujie. He hadn’t expected his daughter and son-in-law to be so capable.

“And there’s an even bigger surprise,” Li An’an said with a smile.

“Oh? What good news is it this time?” Xu Fang asked, her face lit up.

“Mo Han has developed several more pill formulas. We’re preparing to build the largest new pharmaceutical plant in the southwest. The Chen family is investing five hundred million—their funds will hit the project account today,” Li An’an replied.

“This—!” Xu Fang and Li Xiande were thoroughly astonished.

Their son-in-law was like a god of wealth! What kind of mind did he have, to casually develop new formulas like that? It was extraordinary.

As Mo Han watched his family, so warm and joyful, a faint smile played on his lips and emotion stirred in his heart. In all his lives, he had never experienced anything like this.

He took out his phone and called Chen Jianpeng, asking him to book a private room at Jadeite 36. Then he headed to the garage.

Soon, he pulled out the A8, called for Li Xiande and the others to get in, and drove straight to Jadeite 36.

A little over twenty minutes later, the family arrived at the restaurant. After parking, they headed inside.

“Well, if it isn’t Li An’an. What are you doing here?” As the four passed a booth, a woman suddenly called out to Li An’an.

Li An’an turned to see a sharp-featured, rather mean-looking woman and a young man in a suit watching them from their booth.

The woman was Huang Lili, Li An’an’s college classmate and even former roommate. They had once been as close as sisters, but during university, Huang Lili had fancied their class monitor—who, unfortunately for her, only had eyes for Li An’an and repeatedly ignored Huang Lili’s advances.

This had left Huang Lili bitter and resentful, and she’d directed all her anger at Li An’an. Their friendship dissolved into enmity.

“Obviously, I’m here to eat,” Li An’an replied coolly, recognizing Huang Lili.

“Didn’t your family get kicked out of the Li clan? You still have money to eat in a place like this? You must be kidding me,” Huang Lili sneered, entirely unrestrained.

Li An’an gave her a glance and couldn’t be bothered to respond further.

“So this must be your live-in husband, right? He’s actually kind of handsome,” Huang Lili finally noticed Mo Han standing beside Li An’an, and a strange flash of jealousy flickered in her eyes.

Mo Han was indeed strikingly good-looking, far more so than any of her ex-boyfriends.

“What good is a pretty face? He’s just a useless loser, not even man enough to have any dignity. He’s worse off than a beggar,” the young man beside her said with a cold laugh.

“Zhou Kai, you’re right. If a man can’t even keep his dignity, he might as well be a eunuch,” Huang Lili replied, turning to Zhou Kai with a smirk.

The two of them tossed barbs back and forth, their words laced with mockery.

Zhou Kai looked Mo Han up and down. “Come on, share with us—what’s it like living off a woman?”

“Or maybe you’d like to tell us, Li An’an—how does it feel to bring home a kept man?” Huang Lili said, her eyes full of disdain and a hint of schadenfreude.

She’d always enjoyed comparing herself to Li An’an, and now, faced with her again, she couldn’t resist showing off.

But Mo Han and Li An’an saw them as nothing more than a pair of clowns—irrelevant, not worth the time.

“Do you believe I can make sure they don’t get to eat here today?” Zhou Kai suddenly said, eager to impress Huang Lili, whom he was currently pursuing.

“Really?” Huang Lili’s eyes lit up. Ever since their friendship soured, what she wanted most was to see Li An’an embarrassed in front of her.

“Just watch me,” Zhou Kai said confidently as he stood up and walked over.
