Chapter 71: More Useless Than Useless
"Stop!"
At that moment, a thunderous shout rang out from behind. The security guards shuddered and hastily halted.
"Young Master Peng!"
"Young Master Peng!"
It was none other than Chen Jianpeng, who had rushed over in a hurry.
Chen Jianpeng had been entertaining guests in a private room when he received Mo Han’s call. Without a second thought, he dashed out, only to witness this scene.
"Young Master Peng, this guy barged into the private room and twisted Manager Hu’s wrist…" The waiter hurriedly complained upon seeing Chen Jianpeng.
"Get out!"
Without hesitation, Chen Jianpeng slapped the waiter across the face, then strode quickly to stand in front of Mo Han.
"Mr. Mo, I apologize. This was my oversight!" Chen Jianpeng said with genuine regret. He had forgotten to ask when Mo Han would be dining, or such a thing would never have happened.
What was going on?
In that instant, everyone stared wide-eyed in disbelief at the scene.
Chen Jianpeng was actually addressing him as Mr. Mo with such respect?
Who exactly was this young man?
Zhou Kai and Huang Li were both dumbfounded.
Wasn’t this guy supposed to be a fool?
When did he become a miracle doctor?
Most astonishing was Chen Jianpeng’s deference toward him!
The two exchanged glances, each seeing shock and incredulity in the other’s eyes.
"Xiao Chen, your Chen family’s security and waitstaff truly have issues. Do you think that just because the Chen family is wealthy and influential, you can treat your guests with such disregard? Staff who act like this will only drive away customers. Aren't you worried it will ruin the dining experience?" Mo Han said with evident displeasure.
"You’re absolutely right, Mr. Mo. I rarely come to the restaurant myself, so I’ve been negligent," Chen Jianpeng replied awkwardly.
He then turned to the waiter and said sternly, "Go to HR and process your resignation. Get out right now!"
"Young Master Peng…" The waiter trembled, his face ashen, and his heart filled with resentment toward Zhou Kai.
Working at Jadeite 36 was a privilege few could compare with.
Yet he had believed Zhou Kai and targeted Mo Han’s family.
He never imagined that even the Chen family’s young master would be so courteous to Mo Han.
Who was he compared to that?
Mo Han glanced at the waiter, whose face was already drained of all color, then shifted his gaze to Zhou Kai and Huang Lili.
"Also, as for those two who seem fond of acting like lackeys, don’t ever let them dine here again. Their low taste is a blight on your restaurant’s reputation."
Chen Jianpeng looked at Zhou Kai and Huang Lili, understanding immediately that they must have offended Mo Han earlier.
He turned to them and said in a cold voice, "I don’t care who you are. From today on, all businesses under the Chen Group will blacklist you. You are not allowed entry anywhere."
To offend Mr. Mo was to offend him, Chen Jianpeng.
"Somebody, throw them out!"
Hearing Chen Jianpeng’s firm and angry words, the security guards immediately seized Zhou Kai and Huang Lili by the arms and dragged them out.
"Young Master Chen, my father is Zhou Qi! He said he once dined with you!" Zhou Kai cried out in desperation.
"Mr. Mo, this way please." Without even glancing at Zhou Kai, Chen Jianpeng ushered Mo Han’s family toward the private room.
Zhou Kai and Huang Lili were unceremoniously thrown out of the restaurant by the security, their faces livid with humiliation.
"Zhou Kai, didn’t you say Li An’an’s man was a nobody? Then why does Young Master Chen act so subservient in front of him?" Huang Lili demanded, clearly irritated.
"That’s what everyone always said. I have no idea why Chen Jianpeng is so afraid of him," Zhou Kai replied, feigning innocence.
"So it just means you’re even more useless than a nobody?" Huang Lili sneered. "Don’t contact me again. I can’t stand men who are even more worthless than nobodies."
With that, she flicked her hand disdainfully and strode off.
"Lili..." Zhou Kai tried to say something, but Huang Lili didn’t give him a chance. She got into her car and sped away.
"Young Master Chen." The lobby manager hurried over when he saw Chen Jianpeng personally escorting the guests.
"Are any of the three grand suites available?" Chen Jianpeng asked after glancing at the manager.
"The Imperial Suite just became vacant. We’ve only just finished cleaning it," the manager replied, having just seen the previous guests out.
"Good, then let’s go to the Imperial Suite," Chen Jianpeng nodded, leading Mo Han’s family there.
The Imperial Suite was on the third floor, one of the three most luxurious suites in Jadeite 36; the entire floor consisted of just these three rooms.
To call it a suite was almost a misnomer—it was more like a small private hall.
The décor needed no further praise: brilliant lighting, sumptuous fabrics, bold arrangements. The tableware and amenities exuded a lively yet rich aesthetic, with lines that echoed natural forms.
A long dining table was set by the window, offering a view of the swimming pool below.
Opposite the table was a one-meter-high performance stage, more ornate than most theaters.
The entire suite was lavish and comfortable, emanating an air of supreme luxury.
Upon entering, Li Xiande’s family moved with exaggerated care, afraid to damage anything.
"Heavens, is this how the wealthy live? I could boast about this for a lifetime!" Xu Fang exclaimed, marveling at the décor.
Li Xiande and Li An’an were also wide-eyed with wonder.
They had never dined in such an upscale place before.
Even when Li Xiande ran the pharmaceutical factory, he only ever entertained guests in regular private rooms—most of the time, it was just the main hall.
He had never set foot in one of the three grand suites.
Soon, the dishes were served. After three toasts with red wine, Chen Jianpeng excused himself; he still had clients to attend to in another private room.
"Dad, we’re getting ready to open a new factory. You’ll be the CEO," Li An’an said.
Li Xiande was tempted; he had always managed the pharmaceutical side and was a workaholic. Having been idle for so long, he couldn’t stand doing nothing.
"When does construction start? I’ll oversee the building of the new plant," Li Xiande offered. He wanted his daughter to gain some experience.
"Dad, of course you’ll be the CEO. I’ll be your assistant; I barely know anything," Li An’an replied.
"You and Mo Han can handle it. I believe in you," Li Xiande said.
"He’s as lazy as can be—only willing to head security," Li An’an laughed.
She had always wanted Mo Han to take charge of other departments or become general manager, but he always refused, claiming ignorance.
"Dad, the new factory is still in the planning stages. We’ll talk more after we acquire the land," Mo Han said with a smile, raising his glass to toast Li Xiande before continuing, "There’s an investment fair the day after tomorrow. We’ll see then if there’s any land up for sale."
"Alright, I’ll help you get the company in order first," Li Xiande nodded.
The pharmaceutical factory was doing better than ever, and he worried his daughter might make a mess of things.
