Suddenly hearing a voice behind him, Su Yi’s steps faltered slightly; he stopped for a moment before slowly turning around. A graceful figure immediately appeared before his eyes. He coughed dryly and said, “So it’s Miss Lie Feifei…”

It was Lie Feifei, whom Su Yi had not seen for some time. The events of that day had surprised him, and to this day he still did not know how to handle the situation, nor how to face Lie Feifei.

These past few days, Su Yi had been absorbed in his cultivation, leaving little time to dwell on such matters. Now, encountering her so suddenly, he truly found himself at a loss.

Lie Feifei’s expression was somewhat unusual as well; a faint blush seemed to color her cheeks, and she stood silently, as if unsure what to say. She remained quietly in place, when a cold, hard voice suddenly sounded from beside her, “Miss, let’s go. What’s the point in talking to someone like him?”

Hearing this, Su Yi’s gaze shifted to the person standing behind Lie Feifei. He recognized him—it was Kenmu, the Lie family guard who had caused him trouble recently.

As Su Yi’s eyes settled on him, Kenmu’s look of disdain deepened. Though rumors had been circulating lately, Kenmu, having personally tested Su Yi’s strength, knew him to be weak and useless. Had it not been for Captain Lie Tie that day, Kenmu might have humiliated Su Yi severely.

Su Yi only glanced at Kenmu before withdrawing his gaze, not wishing to look further. If he continued, the evil soul within him might enter a rampage, and who knew what might happen then? Though he felt some displeasure toward Kenmu, he did not wish to stir up trouble now.

It wasn’t Kenmu that Su Yi was worried about, but rather attracting the attention of the Lie family. Though he had erased most traces, the Dou Technique “Qiankun Transformation” was still stored in his ring. If the Lie family discovered such incontrovertible evidence, no explanation would suffice—the consequences would be dire.

However, speaking of the storage ring, Su Yi’s heart stirred as he looked at Lie Feifei, thinking perhaps…

The conversation drew Old Zhang’s attention. He glanced up and saw that it was Su Yi and a few others, including Lie Feifei. He hurried forward with a smile, saying, “So the eldest Miss of the Lie family is here! Forgive me for not welcoming you sooner. If you need anything, please let me know…”

Though Old Zhang’s Qina family had been in the limelight recently, compared to a clan like the Lie family, it was still far inferior. With Lie Feifei herself visiting, he naturally had to offer the best hospitality.

Lie Feifei nodded slightly, not finding words for a moment. She had merely happened to pass by and, upon seeing Su Yi, came over. Remembering Kenmu’s rude attitude toward Su Yi just now, she felt uneasy, worried Su Yi might think she had ordered it.

Since being threatened, forced to swear an oath, and after that unspeakable incident, Lie Feifei had unconsciously come to value Su Yi’s status highly.

She glanced apologetically at Su Yi, then spoke in a low, uncertain voice, “Su Yi… um… are you here to buy something?”

Su Yi nodded somewhat awkwardly, “Just here to buy some ordinary things, like provisions.”

“Then… shall I help—accompany you?” Lie Feifei lowered her head, her cheeks tinged with red.

Before Su Yi could reply, Kenmu quickly interjected, “Miss, Su Yi is only fit to buy such cheap, common things. If you accompany him, wouldn’t that be beneath your status?”

Kenmu was extremely displeased seeing the Miss’s attitude toward Su Yi. How could a mere useless fellow dare approach the Lie family’s precious daughter? The Miss’s puzzling demeanor made no sense to him; wasn’t it said that she had looked down on Su Yi for a year, avoiding him since then?

Why did things seem so different now?

Kenmu, by virtue of his position, dared not harbor any improper thoughts toward Lie Feifei, though he could not help admiring her—she was, after all, one of the city’s three great beauties, her lovely face and mature figure a deadly temptation.

He had been excited to be assigned to protect Lie Feifei today, pleased to spend time near his goddess, even catching whiffs of her alluring scent now and then.

Yet all of this was ruined by Su Yi’s sudden appearance! If allowed, Kenmu would have liked nothing better than to kill Su Yi here and now, sparing himself further annoyance.

Old Zhang, observing from the side, was perplexed. Though Lie Feifei had once pursued Su Yi, that was in the past. Times had changed—how could Su Yi, who could no longer cultivate Dou Qi, be associated with her again?

Lie Feifei was the Lie family’s eldest Miss; surely she would not act so irrationally?

Hearing Kenmu’s contemptuous words, Su Yi’s eyes darkened, feeling intense negative emotions surge from the evil soul within, almost overwhelming his control. He clenched his right fist, forcefully suppressing his body’s reaction.

He let out a slow breath, paid no further attention to them, and turned to Old Zhang, saying, “Uncle Zhang, I’ll go inside first.” With that, he strode into the market.

Old Zhang was briefly stunned, then sighed quietly. If it were the old Su Yi, who would dare treat him with such contempt? Now, he could only endure the humiliation, powerless to resist.

Yet, although humiliating, it was at least the wise course.

Su Yi was unaware of Old Zhang’s reflections. Entering the market, he paused and walked toward the place where he had once encountered the mysterious white mask. The matter of the white mask had weighed on his mind, and now, because of the evil soul, his thoughts returned to it.

Standing where the mask had been displayed, he noticed the items had changed greatly; most of the so-called collateral had been reclaimed. He wondered if anyone had come for the white mask.

As Su Yi pondered, Old Zhang saw Lie Feifei and her companions waiting, seemingly for Su Yi, and felt obliged to check on his situation. He found Su Yi deep in thought and said, “Most of these items were redeemed recently. What remains is probably not worth much—no one cares for them.”

“Oh?” Su Yi raised his brows, considering, “Has anyone come to reclaim the white mask?”

“The white mask? Oh, that one.” Old Zhang paused, then shook his head, “No one has claimed it so far—probably forgotten. After all, it’s useless.”

Su Yi nodded, sighing inwardly. It seemed unlikely he would find any information related to the white mask, so he put the thought aside and began purchasing what he needed for his journey.

Though there were many items, they were all ordinary, so he did not spend much time. After paying the coins, Su Yi carried a large bundle out of the market. Lie Feifei, who had waited a long time, immediately approached him.

Seeing the large bundle in Su Yi’s hands, she was momentarily surprised and curious, “Su Yi, what did you buy?”

Kenmu, walking behind Lie Feifei, scoffed. As expected, whatever Su Yi had bought was surely nothing special—just common goods. He couldn’t believe Su Yi dared show such things in front of Lie Feifei!

Before Su Yi could respond, a chilling voice suddenly rang out—

“Su Yi, fate certainly brings enemies together!”
