Chapter 123: Whose Child (Part 2)
“Oh my, Fatty, why has your belly swollen up? Have you been sneaking food again?”
When Xilili noticed the strange change in Fatty the Boar, she immediately bounded over. Having grown fairly close to him, she stroked his belly and exclaimed in exaggerated surprise. Fatty, however, did not seem to mind in the slightest. He wore an expression of utter enjoyment. The grudge between them had long since been dissolved by the several good meals Xilili had given him.
“Haha, what could you possibly have eaten to make your belly that big? I say, he might be expecting babies!”
Bonnie the Eccentric Woman made a startling remark that left the other seven stunned. But when they saw Wang Luo nod, they were thrown into complete disarray. Bonnie herself was no less dumbfounded; she had merely tossed the words out at random.
“Ah! Fatty is going to have babies! Fatty, you can give birth to little piglets!”
After recovering from her shock, Xilili once again left everyone speechless with her unusually uninhibited train of thought. As she carefully stroked Fatty’s belly and murmured who knew what to him, the others could only stare in silence.
“Hmm? Then where’s the father?”
Seeing how much Fatty enjoyed Xilili’s touch, Bonnie the Eccentric Woman walked over as well. But before she could even approach, Fatty snorted and glared her back. Bonnie cast an unwilling glance at Fatty and the smug-looking Xilili, then curiously turned to Wang Luo.
“Well, this… this… this…”
Three consecutive “this’s” slipped from Wang Luo’s lips. He truly had no idea how to explain the situation. Seeing this, several people clearly took the matter in the wrong direction. Prier, Abigail, Femi, and Lisa successively revealed strange expressions, leaving Xilili and Bonnie utterly bewildered.
“It’s you?!”
After exchanging a glance, Xilili and Bonnie cried out in shock at the same time. Then, as though they had seen a ghost, they hurriedly moved away from Wang Luo. He responded with a roll of his eyes.
Meanwhile, several youths who had left earlier and now returned noticed Wang Luo’s casual glance in their direction. Without even turning their heads, they immediately sprinted into the Earthfire Chamber.
“What nonsense are you talking about? I could just as easily say the child belongs to the two of you!”
Wang Luo rolled his eyes at Xilili and Bonnie, his face filled with speechlessness. He was thoroughly depressed. Why did everyone think that way? Did he really look like some kind of beast beyond redemption? He scorned everyone who thought so. Human and beast—how could that even be possible? Though, come to think of it, perhaps it was not entirely impossible…
Damon and Kyro exchanged a strange glance. At the same time, certain wicked images flashed through their minds. Kyro’s small face flushed under Damon’s peculiar gaze, turning soft and rosy. Wang Luo, standing nearby, felt his index finger twitch with desire, but fortunately managed to restrain himself.
The others happened to notice that scene as well. Though they were young, they were all relatively mature. They did not understand certain matters clearly, but they knew enough. They all understood what Wang Luo’s heated gaze meant, and an awkward atmosphere spread through the group of its own accord.
“You little lecher! Lisa, Femi, he’s bullying me again. Let’s get him together!”
Xilili was completely unaffected by the strange atmosphere. Still furious over Wang Luo’s words, she called out to Lisa and Femi. A scorching fireball appeared out of thin air and shot toward Wang Luo.
“Xilili, I’ll help you! This Wang Luo is simply awful!”
At that, Bonnie charged forward first. With a casual wave of her hand, three leaves materialized in midair and shot toward Wang Luo. She had timed it perfectly. The instant Wang Luo shattered Xilili’s fireball, the three emerald leaves had already reached him, and a surge of wood-elemental energy spread through the air.
“Wang Luo, you really are too awful. How dare you speak that way about Xilili and Bonnie? They’re only little girls!”
A voice as enchanting as a dream rang out, and everyone’s movements involuntarily came to a halt. A woman who seemed to have stepped out of another world slowly emerged from the Earthfire Chamber. At that moment, every person present stopped what they were doing. Their eyes held nothing but the figure dressed in white.
Qier!
Wang Luo’s hands clenched tightly. A murderous glint flashed briefly in his eyes as he silently repeated her name with bitter hatred. He drew a deep breath, suppressing everything within him, and allowed a smile to appear on his face.
“Sister Qier, Wang Luo bullied me!”
The moment Xilili saw Qier, she found her salvation. Crying out, she was just about to throw herself into Qier’s arms when a strong hand suddenly seized her arm, firmly stopping her.
“Hmm? Kyro, what are you doing? And why do you look so pale?”
Caught by the arm, Xilili stared at Kyro in confusion. Then she noticed how terrifyingly grim his expression was and asked worriedly, “What’s wrong?”
“Qier, Qier, why did you run so fast? Wait for me…”
A voice calling Qier suddenly came from inside the Earthfire Chamber. Qier furrowed her brows slightly, nodded to everyone, and in a flash appeared far in the distance.
“So fast!”
Wang Luo could not help being startled. Her speed was astonishing—barely comparable to that of a seventh-rank black panther. Clearly, Qier’s strength had improved considerably once again.
Qier had only just left when a green-clad figure flashed before everyone’s eyes and vanished. His speed was actually on par with Qier’s, causing Wang Luo’s expression to change yet again.
“Ahem, Wang Luo, that child couldn’t possibly be his, could it?”
Damon furtively glanced in the direction Qier had gone, then asked with a lecherous grin. He knew what had happened that night as well. When he saw Fatty was pregnant, his first thought had naturally been of everything that had occurred on that night.
“I’m not entirely sure myself. Where were you all headed when you came out?”
Wang Luo truly did not want to linger on the subject. Taking advantage of everyone’s astonishment at Qier’s and the green-clad man’s speed, he hurriedly changed the topic. If they continued discussing the matter, he did not know whether he might end up killing Kyro right there on the spot.
“Boss, we’re planning to rest for a while, attend some lessons, and then head to the Trial Forest. Constant cultivation isn’t enough. We also need to practice magic and combat techniques, as well as broaden our knowledge. Boss, would you like to come with us?”
Having received Wang Luo’s silent signal, Prier very much wanted to gossip as well, but managed to restrain himself and help Wang Luo change the subject. Privately, however, he planned to find time for a proper round of gossip.
“Do I still need to broaden my knowledge and gain experience? Prier, Abigail, I’ll leave Fatty and Black Monkey to you. I’m going into the Earthfire Chamber to cultivate for a while!”
Laughing extravagantly, Wang Luo spoke with unabashed self-confidence. He gave the two of them a few instructions concerning Fatty, then wasted no more time and hurried directly into the Earthfire Chamber.
“Everyone is improving. Stefan is improving, Qier is improving, and Damon and Kyro are improving as well. But what about me? I’ve only been delving deeper and deeper. I wonder when I’ll finally see through everything and break through to the seventh rank!”
Inside the Earthfire Chamber, Wang Luo sped forward while sighing inwardly, completely unaware of the figure ahead that was deliberately concealing its presence…
