Chapter 160: Fury
"Fine!"
Not expecting the person in his arms to actually try and move away from his fingers, Wang Luo paused for a fraction of a second before a fierce glint flashed brightly in his eyes. He swallowed hard; that movement, that expression—it was damnably alluring.
In an instant, Wang Luo decided to forget about the damn lotus seeds and resolve the person in his arms right here and now. He simply could not hold back or wait any longer, especially when the sultry scene before him became completely unbearable.
Swish—
A sudden sound of a piercing gale rang out. The earthy-yellow lotus seed inexplicably and bizarrely flew away from the outer perimeter of the battlefield, shooting straight toward them. Salivating and all set to enjoy Gus, Wang Luo was instantly consumed by a wave of fiery rage.
"Get lost!"
Snatching the earthy-yellow lotus seed out of the air, an irritated Wang Luo glared at the group rushing up from below and let out a furious roar. A volley of rain-arrows imbued with his blazing anger shot downward, and the ground strangely began to undulse like waves, instantly tumbling a large number of people.
"Hmph, what a big mouth!"
A fire-style warrior who had failed to secure a lotus seed watched as the very last one was tucked into the bosom of the person right before him, and upon hearing Wang Luo's roar, his explosive temper flared up. With an angry snort, he brandished a blazing red greatsword and lunged at Wang Luo.
"Hmph!"
With a cold grunt, Wang Luo set the blushing, crimson-faced Gus aside, picked up Gus's magic staff, and began chanting. He decided he must teach this bunch of troublemakers who had interrupted his good time a harsh lesson.
"Slow!"
Almost reaching instantaneous casting, the Slow spell descended instantly upon the fire-style warrior. The warrior's newly leaped body plunged heavily mid-air, and with nothing to leverage against, he plummeted straight down.
"Mud Swamp!"
"Water Snake!"
Two consecutive spells appeared simultaneously. The ground that had just settled began to warp strangely, and quite a few mages were caught off-guard and sank right in, while even more people were coiled up by six deep-blue water snakes.
"Fire Snake!"
"Earth Shield!"
"Wind Erosion!"
"Rain Arrows!"
Having taken two hits in a row, the crowd began to counterattack. Potent spells flickered into existence one after another, and brilliant flashes of battle qi began to unleash their might. With a cold expression, Wang Luo's face shifted abruptly. Gritting his teeth in frustration, he turned around, scooped up Gus, and fled in a panic.
(...)
Executing the Shadow Phantom Steps to the absolute limit, Wang Luo's lean body leaped rapidly through the forest. Even while carrying someone, his speed was far beyond what ordinary warriors could hope to catch, let alone those mages.
"Hmph! Unappreciative fools! If you keep pursuing me relentlessly, don't blame me for being unpolite. Without the support of those mages, you stand zero chance of defeating me!"
Having run an unknown distance, Wang Luo glanced back at the small handful of people stubbornly chasing him, stopped abruptly, stood upon a tree branch, and spoke coldly.
"Wang Luo, you've already obtained quite a few lotus seeds. Shouldn't you yield this final earth lotus seed? Even without the mages backing us, the likes of you are no match for all of us combined!"
The fire-style warrior, who had been caught off-guard and knocked to the ground by Wang Luo's Slow spell earlier, shouted out while rallying all the pursuers. Not a single person among them was below tier six, and combined, they indeed formed a formidable force.
"Damn it! I earned those lotus seeds through my own capability—what business is it of yours? None of you even have your facial hair fully grown yet. You have three breaths; clear out, or stay here for good!"
A sexually frustrated man is both the most terrifying and the most irritable, and Wang Luo was clearly in that exact state. His fierce and rugged demeanor left Gus, standing beside him, dumbfounded. It seemed Wang Luo had always been quite gentle—except during certain moments.
"Wang Luo, you go too far!"
Pointed out and lectured like a child, the fire-style warrior instantly flew into a rage, brandishing his greatsword as he lunged forward. The rest of the group also charged in with righteous indignation. As proud favored sons of Tianxuan Academy and future top-tier powerhouses, who had ever dared treat them this way?
"Overestimating yourselves! Gus, let's cast magic together!"
Calling upon the dazed Gus, Wang Luo began chanting spells. Mages feared group combat the least; as long as they prevented warriors from closing in, mages were absolute existences below tier seven.
"Earth Mist!"
"Earthquake!"
"Slow!"
A swirling earth mist instantly blocked the warriors' vision. Immediately after, the ground beneath their feet began to roll incessantly, while everyone's bodies suffered a sudden, heavy halt. Their movements became exceptionally difficult, and a whole batch of them were immediately tripped up.
"Mud Swamp!"
"Earth Mist!"
"Slow!"
The earth mist that had just been scattered billowed once again, and bodies that had barely recovered were struck anew. Meanwhile, the ground, which had stopped rippling, seemed to cave in as the warriors began sinking one by one.
"Rain Arrows!"
"Water Snakes!"
"Earthly Spirit Binding!"
Three more spells followed closely behind. The rain-arrows filling the sky, coordinated with the six water snakes, launched a simultaneous assault on the group, who were already restrained by bizarre earthy-yellow chains. Seeing this, their faces changed drastically; taking this hit meant losing a layer of skin even if they survived.
"Enough, Wang Luo! A proper lesson is enough. If you unleash this spell, they probably won't even be able to participate in the upcoming promotion realm trials!"
Elijah's voice rang out abruptly, causing everyone to reveal expressions of joy. Wang Luo's face turned fiercely cold; he had never forgotten the matter of his bone sword being broken. That lotus seed earlier hadn't flown over to them by chance, and now Elijah was stepping in to play the peacemaker.
"Hmph!"
With a cold snort, Wang Luo raised his head to glance at Elijah hovering in mid-air. A sharp gleam flashed through his eyes, a smile touched the corner of his mouth, and with a sudden surge of mental energy, the descending spells accelerated by another fraction.
"Hmph!"
With a cold grunt, a verdant green light flashed briefly over Elijah's body. Countless crystal-clear leaves instantly materialized, shooting directly toward the sky-filling rain-arrows and the six water snakes.
Swish, splash...
Without encountering the slightest resistance, the two water-style spells were instantly shattered, reverting back into the water elements of heaven and earth and disappearing, leaving behind a crowd with dumbfounded expressions.
"Wang Luo, how audacious of you to dare defy Teacher Elijah's words!"
Escaping the shadow of death, the fire-style warrior saw Elijah frowning as he locked eyes with Wang Luo. With a quick roll of his eyes, he pointed at Wang Luo and roared angrily. The others exchanged glances, remaining silent.
"Get lost!"
With a cold curse, the fire-style warrior suddenly sensed a massive force assaulting him from underground. Just as he tried to dodge, he realized the Earthly Spirit Binding had not yet been lifted, and his expression shifted abruptly.
Rip—
Argh—
A miserable shriek followed the sound of flesh being pierced. The fire-style warrior looked in agony at his pierced sole and glared at Wang Luo with burning fury, yet he no longer dared utter a single insolent word. Only his venomous, serpent-like gaze sent shivers down many spines.
"Let's go!"
Reaching out to wrap his arm around Gus's waist and casting one final glance at Elijah, the two dashed into the forest and vanished from sight. The Earthly Spirit Binding dissipated accordingly, leaving behind a group of faces bearing lingering chills.
