“Pah, pah…” Covered in blood, Wang Luo wiped the droplets from his face, spitting repeatedly as he cursed inwardly: Who on earth has nothing better to do than set off fireworks in the middle of the night, causing such a commotion?

“You two heartless creatures, after all the roasted meat I’ve made for you, you pay me back like this—Blood Condensing Pearl!”

He shot a glance at the lion and the wolf who had just leapt aside and were now grinning mischievously at his sorry state. Wang Luo simply pursed his lips in exasperation and spoke.

“Oh, by the way, let me tell you both—I'm nine years old this year!”

As he spoke, he stripped off his tattered, blood-soaked shirt, which had been shredded by the explosion, and addressed the two beasts.

He remembered seeing this scene for the ninth time now, and he had calculated that each occurrence was exactly three hundred and sixty-five days apart. At first, he thought it was some bizarre natural phenomenon, but before leaving, he’d asked his lioness mother and learned it was actually a special human festival.

Suddenly, the little white lion and the blood wolf, seeing Wang Luo pause while changing, immediately sat cross-legged and entered a state of cultivation. After exchanging bewildered glances, the two beasts quietly guarded his side.

In the pitch-black forest, a black panther glanced at the half-naked boy, its sharp eyes warily scanning the surroundings.

Up in the treetops, the man in black was still stunned, staring at Wang Luo in disbelief, his ears echoing with the boy’s words and his eyes growing ever more puzzled.

Nine years old? He’s only nine? Why was he able to cultivate so early…?

Unaware of all this, Wang Luo was now curiously observing the vibrant, multicolored world before him. This was the familiar world of spiritual energy, but now it teemed with new, unfamiliar points of colored light.

He sensed the golden lights flitting around him, which seemed a little wary of the wood-element spiritual energy. Wang Luo was certain these weren’t ordinary spiritual energy lights—they felt more like the powers carried by his lion father and mother.

Then, focusing on the blue, red, and yellow lights circling his head, Wang Luo pondered for a moment, unsure of their nature. Focusing his spiritual sense, he drew a cluster of blue light closer to himself.

Boom—

The instant the blue light was pulled into his body, Wang Luo felt a resounding crash in his mind, his consciousness reeling so violently he nearly passed out. Then, he sensed a new space appear beside his sea of consciousness, inside which hovered a cluster of blue, mysterious light.

“What on earth is this?”

Wang Luo’s spiritual sense wandered through the void, and after returning to his sea of consciousness, he wondered in confusion before immersing himself again in the dazzling world of lights.

Before long, two more clusters of light—a red and another—materialized in that newly formed space, now making three distinct orbs floating silently, showing no sign of movement.

Wang Luo carefully studied the golden lights dancing around him like tiny, lively sprites. He could feel their warmth, as if they were always meant to be part of him.

Feeling an inexplicable sense of wonder, Wang Luo stopped questioning and, using his spiritual sense, wrapped a golden orb and gently drew it into himself.

From the shadows, the man in black stared in a daze at Wang Luo, whose entire body was now bathed in blue, red, and yellow light, seemingly stunned by the sudden turn of events.

Suddenly, the man saw Wang Luo’s body jolt violently, and in the next instant, a brilliant golden light enveloped him, forcibly pushing the blue, red, and yellow lights up around his head.

The man’s pupils contracted sharply, his face twisted in shock, and then greed flickered unmistakably in his eyes as they fixed upon Wang Luo’s left ring finger—where a black, ancient-looking ring had suddenly appeared.

In that moment, as greed and murderous intent surged in the man’s eyes, a black claw flashed out of nowhere, ruthlessly striking at him.

Bang—

The claw passed through the man’s blurred silhouette, slamming into the tree he had hidden behind, which snapped instantly and crashed to the ground.

Roar! Roar!

Two furious roars followed; the lion and the wolf lunged from left and right at the man in black who had suddenly appeared and grabbed at Wang Luo. But before they could reach him, they were blasted away by two beams of black energy.

Nonetheless, the man’s movements paused for a moment, and the black panther’s claw flashed out again, crackling with dark light as it struck hard at the man.

“Courting death!”

Seeing the black panther attack once more, the man in black cursed, whipping out a black iron chain from his waist and engaging the panther in a fierce battle.

“Heh, finally a real fight. Wang Luo, I’ve helped you once—didn’t let that man in black disturb your cultivation!”

High above, a youth in black clothes munched on a fruit of unknown origin, watching the three beasts battle the man below, muttering to himself.

“What is this place?”

Wang Luo gazed around at the vast space, nearly the size of a football field, filled with books, gems, wild herbs, and all sorts of odds and ends. He murmured to himself in wonder.

“Introduction to the Profound Heavens Continent? The Jin Ge Family Genealogy? Jin Ge Swordsmanship?…”

His spiritual sense swept across the books, and Wang Luo read the titles aloud in surprise, never expecting them to be written in authentic Chinese.

After a while, Wang Luo recalled how he had retrieved a small purple flower from the void space through the green light. He transformed his spiritual sense into a rope, wrapped it around the “Introduction to the Profound Heavens Continent,” and willed it to appear outside.

Opening his eyes, Wang Luo immediately looked at his hand—and sure enough, there was a book there. But before he could enjoy his success, a scream rang out. He looked up to see a black chain coiling around the little white lion like a venomous snake, hurling it brutally against a tree.

The blood wolf, witnessing this, let out a low growl. Blue-red blades of light slowly gathered above its head before shooting toward the man in black.

Sss—

The black chain pierced through each blade, lashing fiercely at the blood wolf and leaving a long gash across its back.

Roar—

Just then, the black panther, recently hurled away, raised its head to the sky and roared. Its eyes turned blood red, its body swelled with a strange ferocity, and it lunged at the man in black in a berserk, bloodthirsty frenzy.

“Damn it! These three magical beasts are so troublesome. That black panther’s even mastered Bloodthirsty Berserk—this is bad. But for the Jin Ge family’s spatial ring, I’ll risk it!”

Entangled in battle with the black panther and wielding his iron chain, the man in black glanced at the lion and wolf, who, having recovered briefly, now charged at him with renewed fury. His eyes twitched.

The three magical beasts cooperated seamlessly, keeping him fully occupied. He knew that if it were any other trio—a fifth, a sixth, and an early seventh-level magical beast—he would have killed them easily with his peak seventh-level cultivation. But none of these beasts were ordinary.

Still, thinking of the Jin Ge family’s spatial ring, he decided that even if he had to get hurt, it was worth fighting for.

When his gaze fell on the not-so-distant ring that was about to become his, his eyes suddenly widened in terror…
