Chapter Thirty-Two: Breakthrough, Transformation!
Three months slipped by like a gentle breeze through one's fingers, and at the edge of the Magical Beast Mountain Range appeared an exhausted and peculiar group—one man and three beasts. It was Wang Luo and his companions.
Originally, they could have left the forest after about a month, but Wang Luo wanted to resolve the discord caused by the black panther in their ranks. He spent his days reading the books stored in his spatial ring, gathering spiritual herbs along the way, and so their departure was delayed until now.
After experiencing the Bayiji incident together, the black panther grew much closer to Wang Luo and his companions. Through Wang Luo's persistent efforts—feeding it grilled meat infused with blood beads and telling stories—he finally managed to subdue the panther. Although it was not as affectionate as the blood wolf, it no longer opposed him.
During this period, Wang Luo also investigated the seemingly useless space within his body. Out of curiosity, he tried storing a dead wild wolf inside, causing the space to undergo a dramatic transformation.
He vividly recalled the scene: under his spiritual observation, the wild wolf gradually dissolved. Streams of blood energy were automatically extracted and coalesced into a blood-colored mist, hanging in the sky like a crimson sun.
As the blood sun formed, threads of white energy brimming with vitality and black threads laden with death emerged from the wolf's body, forming two more suns—one white, one black—along with the crimson sun, creating a triangular formation.
The magical elements within the blood wolf were stripped away and dispersed into the void. Eventually, the wolf was reduced to powder, scattered upon the land and nourishing countless flowers and grasses. The nameless space perfectly utilized every aspect of the blood wolf, leaving nothing to waste.
While studying the tri-colored suns—white, black, and red—Wang Luo realized his control over the space had greatly improved. He could now regulate the growth of the plants within, unlike before, when any plant thrown inside would greedily absorb the spiritual energy and grow to its optimal state almost immediately.
Upon discovering this, Wang Luo began to toss all magical beast corpses—except those for blood bead condensation and food—into the space. Now, the tri-colored mist had grown denser and the soil richer.
He had considered storing living magical beasts in his body's space, but it was impossible; as long as the beast had a breath of life, he could not absorb it.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Wang Luo stared at the distant, vaguely visible village with a sense of familiarity tinged with strangeness. The three beasts watched him curiously, puzzled as to why he had suddenly stopped.
"We've finally made it out!"
He took a deep breath and withdrew his gaze, shouting toward the sky. Scenes of life and death flashed through his mind like a film. Suddenly, his expression changed and he quickly sat cross-legged on the ground.
Streams of wood-element spiritual energy surged toward him, gradually enveloping him in a green mist. The blood wolf retreated, finding the wood energy uncomfortable, as did the black panther. Only Little White circled the mist, constantly attempting to break through but always failing.
Two hours passed in the blink of an eye. The swirling green mist abruptly paused, then contracted sharply, flooding into Wang Luo’s body. As the last trace of wood energy was absorbed, blood-red light began to radiate from his body.
The blood wolf contentedly moved closer, basking in the glow. The black panther remained unmoved; though it did not dislike the blood light, it felt no affection for it either. Little White continued to play at Wang Luo’s side, unable to penetrate the blood light.
Wang Luo’s body trembled within the blood glow, his brows tightly furrowed. Though he had endured this needle-like agony many times, each experience was more painful than the last, always pushing his limits to the edge of endurance.
His body-forging technique circulated swiftly, continually stimulating his mind and body, challenging his limits, strengthening and reshaping him, breaking the shackles of his physical form, and advancing his constitution yet again.
Another two hours passed. Wang Luo drew the blood glow into his body, discarded his sweat-soaked warrior’s garb, changed into fresh attire, and emerged before the three beasts as a fair-skinned, handsome youth once more.
“Heh, I’ve broken through to the mid-stage of Foundation Establishment—Level Five!” he announced cheerfully, catching the beasts’ attention. They all nodded in unison. Though their ranks differed, their intelligence was similar, at least enough to understand his words.
“Blood Wolf, Little Black, how about you two continue training in the Magical Beast Forest? Little White and I can go scout the human world first,” Wang Luo suggested, glancing toward the distant village and eyeing the beasts’ imposing forms, frowning slightly at their conspicuousness.
Upon hearing this, Blood Wolf immediately growled in protest, its blood-red tail waving stubbornly. The black panther also growled lowly, its gaze toward Wang Luo becoming less friendly.
“But you’re far too conspicuous like this,” Wang Luo said, pulling Little White over and gesturing to compare their sizes. His gaze lingered on the black panther, a subtle smile flickering in his eyes.
No sooner had he spoken than Blood Wolf began to glow with blue-red light, its body shrinking until it was about the size of Little White.
After a moment’s inspection of the uncomfortable, yet equally astonished, blood-colored wolf pup, Wang Luo picked it up and placed it beside Little White, then turned his gaze to the black panther.
Seeing the panther snort disdainfully, Wang Luo knew he had a chance. He signaled to Little White and Blood Wolf, who cleverly ran to the panther and whispered together. Soon, the panther began to glow with black light, transforming into a cool-looking little black panther.
“Little Black, you look just like a little black cat now!” Wang Luo joked, cradling the stiff-bodied panther. The books in his spatial ring had mentioned this ability of magical beasts to transform.
Magical beasts who reached Level Seven could shift into pet forms. Wang Luo hadn’t expected Blood Wolf to be capable as well; he’d only wanted to see how the black panther would look as a pet.
Regardless of whether they could transform, Wang Luo planned to bring them to the human world. On the Tianxuan Continent, it was common to travel with magical pets, though most people preferred to keep them in their unique contract spaces rather than out in the open.
After forming a contract with a beast, a person could sense such a space, and pets usually stayed within it. Wang Luo, however, had never detected this so-called contract space, which left him quite puzzled. He had searched several books but found no explanation.
