Fortunately, Wang You had only gone to the restroom and soon returned to his seat.

In the stifling classroom, there were two extraordinary individuals who seemed detached from the mundane world around them, as if nothing here concerned them. They were entirely immersed in their own realms.

“Hey, do you think if she keeps tossing her hair like that every day, she might end up scratching it all off?”

Shitianhui nudged Chen Fan lightly, sharing his observations about the enchanting gestures of the girl in front. But Chen Fan remained unfazed, his gaze fixed unwaveringly on Wang You.

“Weren’t you supposed to feel your heart skip a beat? There’s nothing at all,” Chen Fan said, clutching his chest and staring even more intently, yet still no reaction stirred within him.

“Hey, you’re way over the top—your heart’s about to jump out. Let me make it clear: the goddess belongs to everyone, so if you want to look, you have to watch together,” Shitianhui said, seeing Chen Fan’s lack of response and muttering a few more words.

“Damn it, you big guy, why don’t you just go back to sleep? You’re blocking my view again.” Chen Fan craned his neck, attempting to circle around from the other side to keep watching.

“It’s useless. No matter what angle you try from here, you won’t see her face. If you want to catch a glimpse of the goddess’s beauty, you have to be in the front row. Too bad I’m too shy. Remember last time when we locked eyes for a moment? My face flushed so red that people thought I’d downed a few shots of hard liquor. Hey, are you even listening to me?”

Chen Fan wasn’t listening; he was selectively deaf.

“Maybe I have to do something to get a reaction? I can’t just sit here waiting for the event to end.”

Wiping the sweat from his forehead and adjusting his collar, Chen Fan realized his shirt was soaked, clinging to his oily skin.

“Hm? Did you just call me?” Only after wiping his sweat did Chen Fan realize someone had been calling him repeatedly.

Shitianhui smiled. “Had enough of just watching her from behind? Like I said, this seat is terrible.”

Chen Fan blew his sweat-dampened bangs upward and said regretfully, “I still haven’t gotten what I wanted.”

“Oh, come on. You can watch and admire all you want, but some things need restraint. We’re adults now. If you really take that step, your whole life will be ruined.”

Shitianhui clearly misunderstood Chen Fan’s meaning and began lecturing him at length about the law.

“That’s not what I meant.”

“Are you trying to pursue her? Let me tell you, she’s got tons of admirers. The line to see her stretches all the way from here to the school gate. You’d better give up that idea.” Shitianhui’s voice grew louder, nearly drowning out the host on stage.

Chen Fan took the matter seriously and roughly calculated the distance—from the teaching building to the school gate was at least four hundred meters. Assuming half a meter between each person, that would be at least eight hundred admirers. But the entire school had fewer than three thousand boys. Could one girl really captivate a quarter of all the boys? Chen Fan didn’t believe it.

With a deadpan expression, he replied, “All her admirers must be like dachshunds. There’s no way there are that many.”

“Hey, you don’t understand the goddess’s charm. Just don’t do anything foolish like a moth to a flame.” Shitianhui dismissed his doubts and refocused on watching the goddess’s graceful silhouette.

Chen Fan reluctantly turned his attention to the front. After listening to the host’s speech, he finally understood the earlier references to “underwear” and “live pigs” — they were abbreviations for specialized classes, meant to confuse outsiders.

Chen Fan mimicked, “Then I must be from the ‘restaurant’ class.”

The social event offered nothing new—just some ordinary party games. Chen Fan grew increasingly embarrassed and even felt the urge to escape.

“Now, let’s invite representatives from each class to come up and speak. Is there anyone willing to volunteer? This is a rare chance to shine!”

The host skillfully elevated the atmosphere while setting a trap, but Chen Fan, nearly asleep, detested these speeches, which always overflowed with empty platitudes.

“I’ll go.”

A familiar voice jolted Chen Fan awake. He nearly stood up in excitement—he hadn’t expected Wang You to volunteer.

Wang You was short but solidly built, walking with purpose as he took the microphone from the host and glanced around the audience.

“Is this my chance? Will he slip up? It’s been worth waiting here so long,” Chen Fan rubbed his eyes and fixed his gaze on the stage lights.

“Good evening, classmates. As a first-year student in Internal Audit Class One, I am honored to be part of the auditing family. Upholding justice has been my mission since childhood, and I have continually strived to pursue my ideals. I believe everyone here shares the same belief—we are all young people who uphold justice, right?”

There was no response. Then, stirred by scattered applause, the whole room soon burst into enthusiastic clapping.

“His speech is so stirring, but still no reaction… Could it really not be him?” Chen Fan clutched his chest, trying hard to feel something.

When the room quieted again, Wang You continued, “Because there are so few people with a sense of justice, society has become so corrupt. As qualified auditors, we must honor our professional ethics, not be blinded by fame or fortune, dare to say no to tyranny, bravely raise our heads, and strike hard against evil forces.”

Chen Fan thought this guy was seriously afflicted with late-stage adolescent grandiosity. The topic was drifting further and further. They were only freshmen, not even familiar with their textbooks’ covers, yet already railing against a rotten society.

Wang You raised his fist and declared, “We must be like righteous knights, piercing the darkness with our swords and defending the light with our shields.”

Chen Fan chuckled coldly from the audience. “He’s getting worse and worse. Knights, really? Haha, this definitely isn’t him. Not even a flicker of a heartbeat... no... no... no... no.”

Suddenly, an electric current surged through Chen Fan’s body, making him tingle all over. His limbs involuntarily burst into a mechanical dance. This time, it wasn’t just a heartbeat—it was a disco.

“Hey, what’s wrong with you? Why’s your hair standing up like that?” Shitianhui turned and was startled by Chen Fan’s appearance; his once fluffy bangs now looked like a hedgehog’s spikes.

Chen Fan smoothed his hair, the texture stiff and stubborn. Sniffing his hand, he detected a faint burnt smell. Calmly, he said, “I’m fine. The heavens just gave me a new hairstyle. Not bad, right?”

“You... just now...” Shitianhui pointed at Chen Fan, unsure what to say.

“All right, I’m going to the restroom. See you around.”

Chen Fan rose with flair and left. He had finally gotten what he came for.
