Chapter 120: Fate

In his mind, he wondered: Just how unwelcome was Lin Hao? No matter who he encountered, they all wanted to confront him. What on earth had he done to incur such universal wrath?
As he pondered this, he glanced below. Lin Hao had already reached the seventh level of the Out-of-Body stage, and his meridians had been expanded by the power of lightning, making him utterly fearless of these people.
Had this been before entering Tianyu Mountain, Lin Hao might have been wary of their combined assault, but now, his face was calm and composed.
Dealing with them was effortless—just the sound of bodies hitting the ground echoed repeatedly.
Soon, all of them lay groaning on the ground in pain.
Within less than half an hour, Lin Hao had defeated them all.
However, he had not struck to kill; he only incapacitated them so they could not rise.
“Ouch!”
They writhed on the ground, groaning continuously, their eyes filled with fear as they looked at Lin Hao.
Even Song Yi and his four companions standing aside gazed at Lin Hao with shock and disbelief.
They felt a wave of relief that they had not joined the fight.
None of them had anticipated that Lin Hao’s power had become so terrifying in such a short time. Even Song Yi himself was unsure if he could stand against Lin Hao.
After finishing with them, Lin Hao clapped his hands, raised an eyebrow, and asked, “Well? Still want to fight? I’ve got plenty of treasures here—want to claim some?”
To this, all they could do was continue groaning and wailing in pain.
No one dared to step forward again.
The one who had spoken first, Wei Ye, was in the worst shape—his face was so disfigured that even Song Yi could barely recognize him.
His injuries were the most severe. When Lin Hao fought him, he had secretly tampered with Wei Ye’s body, shattering his meridians. Wei Ye was now effectively crippled and unable to cultivate further, though he had yet to realize this and only felt grievously wounded.
Wei Ye hastily took some pills to restore his strength and then defiantly shouted at Lin Hao, his voice trembling with false bravado, “Fine! Just wait! You dared to hurt me! The Tianqing Sect will never let you go. Just you wait, Lin Hao!”
“Is that so? I’d like to see how your Tianqing Sect plans to stop me,” Lin Hao said, stepping forward to squat before him, placing his foot on Wei Ye’s hand as he spoke calmly.
“Ah!” Wei Ye screamed loudly before Lin Hao’s hand suddenly gripped his neck.
“I hate people like you who spread rumors and stir up trouble. What? You want the treasures I have? Want me to take you out of Tianyu Mountain? Fine, let’s see if you get what you want today, hmm?”
As he spoke, Lin Hao tightened his grip. Wei Ye’s face turned purple, and his breathing grew labored.
“Ahh!”
He struggled desperately with his hands and feet, trying to pry Lin Hao’s hand away.
Lin Hao truly wanted to kill him—to make an example and silence these troublemakers once and for all.
But then, suddenly, a voice rang out: “Wait! Show mercy!”
Lin Hao turned to see Song Yi stepping forward, face pale but eyes pleading.
“Please, Junior Brother Lin Hao, spare Wei Ye this once,” Song Yi begged.
Lin Hao sneered, “Spare him? Why should I? Everyone saw what happened—he was the first to oppose me.”

Lin Hao snorted coldly but loosened his grip, remembering who Song Yi was.
Now that Song Yi had intervened, Lin Hao grew wary. After all, Song Yi and Wei Ye belonged to the same sect. He stopped applying pressure, though his expression remained displeased, making his attitude clear.
Hearing this, Song Yi hurriedly nodded. “Yes, Junior Brother Wei Ye was at fault, but now we are all stranded in Tianyu Mountain, tempers are bound to flare. I hope Junior Brother Lin Hao can understand. We’ve taught him a lesson—why not spare his life? Once we escape, I will report everything truthfully to the sect. The Tianqing Sect will surely take action.”
Song Yi did not want to offend Lin Hao over Wei Ye.
In truth, he wished Wei Ye were dead.
But there were others present—members of different sects and other Tianqing disciples.
If he let Wei Ye die without intervening, rumors would spread, bringing one trouble after another.
Also, Song Yi wanted to maintain a good image in front of everyone, so he could use this as leverage with the Tianqing Sect later.
Yet Song Yi was not a selfless man. Having witnessed Lin Hao’s might and the devastation around, along with Wei Ye’s pitiful state, he knew he was no match for Lin Hao.
Since he could not confront Lin Hao directly, he chose to curry favor instead.
Hence, he stepped forward to plead for Wei Ye’s life, sparing Lin Hao from difficulty.
Another reason was self-preservation.
If Lin Hao killed Wei Ye before Song Yi’s eyes, once Wei Ye recovered consciousness, he might kill Song Yi to silence him.
Considering all this, Song Yi intervened just as Lin Hao was about to strike the fatal blow.
Had he truly cared about Wei Ye, he would have warned him before the fight—not pretended to be righteous now, when the situation was dire.
Song Yi merely wanted a good reputation and to use this to gain Lin Hao’s favor.
With Wei Ye’s disgrace as contrast, Song Yi could appear noble, thereby improving his standing with Lin Hao.
When Lin Hao heard this, he didn’t reply immediately but gave Song Yi a half-smile, his eyes fixed on him.
At first, Song Yi maintained a composed expression, but as their gazes met, he felt Lin Hao’s penetrating stare, as if he could see through him.
Seeing the fierce light in Lin Hao’s eyes, Song Yi lost his nerve, quickly averting his gaze.
His voice wavered as he said, “What does Junior Brother Lin Hao think?”
Lin Hao smirked, amused by Song Yi’s act. He couldn’t guess all his motives but saw through some of them.
Hearing this, Lin Hao relaxed his grip.
With a “clang,” Wei Ye collapsed onto the ground.
“Cough, cough, cough!” Once released, Wei Ye coughed violently, gasping for breath before finally recovering enough to look at Lin Hao again, eyes filled with fear.
He hadn’t expected Lin Hao to actually kill him and now feigned submission, lying silent on the ground.
Lin Hao glanced at Wei Ye and smiled. “Fine, I’ll spare Senior Brother Wei Ye. Song Senior Brother, you were right.”
Then Lin Hao’s voice trailed off.
Both Song Yi and Wei Ye tensed, one standing and the other lying prone, their eyes locked intently on Lin Hao, waiting for what he would say next.
Wei Ye, fearing for his life, dared not breathe loudly, afraid Lin Hao would change his mind and refuse to spare him.
Lin Hao relished their anxiety, deliberately prolonging the pause with a devilish smile.
After whetting their appetites, he continued, “So, after this, I’ll be waiting for the Tianqing Sect to give me an explanation!”
With that, he turned and began to walk away.
At Lin Hao’s words, both their hearts sank. Wei Ye finally exhaled deeply in relief.
Song Yi was stunned for a moment, then also relaxed.
Within moments, sweat poured down as they had feared Lin Hao might turn hostile again.
When Lin Hao said he would spare Wei Ye, Song Yi regained his composure.
Looking up, he saw Lin Hao had already walked some distance away. Anxious, he hurried after him, shouting clumsily, “Junior Brother Lin Hao, don’t go!”
Hearing this, Lin Hao stopped but didn’t turn around. His tone was tinged with annoyance as he asked, “What is it? Still something to say? Or do you, Senior Brother Song Yi, want to challenge me yourself?”
Lin Hao had tried to leave quickly, fearing Song Yi might cause trouble, knowing how cunning he was. He wanted to slip away while everyone was still stunned.
Yet to his surprise, Song Yi had the nerve to call him back after regaining his senses.
Lin Hao silently cursed his own slowness and frowned deeply.
Hearing his words, Song Yi quickly waved his hands. “No, Junior Brother Lin Hao, you misunderstand. Tianyu Mountain is vast; it’s fate that we met.
I’m not here to take anything from you, but you’re the only one who’s made it out of Tianyu Mountain.
I wonder if I might accompany you on your journey? Surely, we all want to escape, right?”
Song Yi spoke grandly, implying he wanted to tag along and have Lin Hao lead him out of Tianyu Mountain.
Lin Hao inwardly mocked him: Ha, what a bold-faced snake. Why would I carry a viper by my side, not knowing when it might bite me?
Besides, why should he allow himself to be burdened? Even though Song Yi hadn’t directly conspired against him before, he hadn’t helped either—just stood by and watched, then used the situation to polish his own image.
